Without A Trace 1/30

At the risk of sounding really corny OMG. That was the best hour of TV I have seen in a while. The actor who played as Chet was really good, especially for a guest actor. I could feel a real emotional connection with him. I am glad that it ended happily. I seriously teared up. Okay now I am really sounding sappy. Ah well, different strokes I guess. This show really connected with me, I don't know why. I really hope to God that I never have to go through losing a child.

Actually I thought they would have followed up on the Chet story a long time from now. I hope that that does not mean that they are not willing to plan for the next few seasons. Anyone know how the ratings are with this show?

Excellent episode. You don't hire Dutton unless you need a badass actor, and casting Rosalind Chao with the whole multi-racial angle was an interesting touch. They story was elevated to another level from their performances. I didn't expect this storyline to be revisited so quickly either. I wish they had inserted some of those fake flashback sequences into another episode before giving us the conclusion of the story, but it still worked well.

I thought this ep was fantastic, and Charles Dutton was lights out. Loved it, but I'm sorry to see the storyline go.

This show had better be around for a while. This is currently one of my favorite hours on TV. It's hard for me to invest time in new shows, even with Tivo, but this one is on the Season Pass list for good.

Best episode of the series so far. It was great for the writers to build up to this episode with appearances by Dutton in an early episodes. I thought that it would be drawn out longer, but it was great that it got resolved last night. An excellent hour of TV.

Excellent episode.

This is only the 4th time I've seen the show and I've liked all the episodes I've seen.

I love watching Charles Dutton, he does some amazing work.

Man, I figured this was going to be a lousy rehash of that past story... so I watched ER instead...

... boy, am I regretting that decision!

Guess I'll look out for the repeat. BTW< this is the first time that I've missed this show this season. MY VCR is on the fritz, so I had to pick...

I thought Anthony LaPaglia did a nice job as well. It's like him and Dutton kept upping the ante on the acting stakes.

That's an excellent description. I've always like LaPaglia but never thought of him as anything outstanding, but he really elevated his game for this episode. I also thought Marianne Jean-Baptiste was fantastic in her tone as Jack started to unravel a bit.

Just chiming in to agree with everybody. We watched the episode on TiVo tonight (last night my wife wanted to see ER live). Best episode so far of this show and one of the best hours of TV this season. Dutton was amazing. I think Emmy is the word.

(I have to admit, I teared a little myself.)

Go out and rent Lantana. I'd always liked him before but he seriously blew me away in that movie. He was robbed of an Oscar nomination. He was so good in that movie (and it's a great movie to boot.)

And Lapaglia can do comedy (see his stint on Frasier as Daphne's always drunk brother Simon) very well. He's actually got more range than most "respected" actors working today.

I agree. He first caught my eye in the very under-rated Betsy's Wedding as mobster Stevie D who is courting Ally Sheedy's policewoman character.

I also agree this episode was fantastic. It was such a better storyline than the typical "child is kidnapped by a sex pervert"' plot.

I thought it was cool they actually showed a real clip of Detroit for the establishing shot. My only complaint was their comment "route 80 outside of Detroit." I know of no Route 80 around here, and if if it was outside of Detroit, the kid wouldn't have been brought to a Detroit hospital.

It was nice seeing Rosalind Chao on TV again.

OMG he's Simon?! Wow he is. I had no idea! He CAN play a wide range of characters.
