They had me completely fooled. Great job of deception. We need to merge or close one of these threads.

I forgot to mention I watched the show on my new Sony flatscreen tonight and it looked great.

I think he said "Rosebud". :D
Well, you knew Angelus would be back, you just didn't know how he was coming back with the sleight of hand the writers pulled on us faithful viewers. |

Brilliantly done and a testament to why we spoiler the previews around here.
Anyone who knows me knows I'm big with the Buffy/Angel and refuse to accept anything else, so towards the end I was chanting "this can't be real ... this can't be real ... this can't be real ..." (while twitching in the corner and drooling) and lo and behold my wish was true. The whole episode I was in disarray because everything seemed too easy (Angel escaping his chains, finding the magical sword, Connor saves the day "His name is Angel", Wesley and Gunn want to have a kid together now, Angel giving inspirational speeches), but they did an excellent job dropping clues to keep us off balance without giving it away too early. And, yes, <B>David_M</B>, I heard the same thing. It was so shocking I had to replay it with closed captioning, and it was confirmed. Now that's what I like to see. das |
Great episode and perfect misdirection. I had the same reaction with that Angel/Cordy scene where I was like "ok, he knows the danger so why would he still go through with it?"
Best of all, I don't know whats going to happen next and even though I watch the previews, I still don't know. Thats something that I can't say for all shows, but here it works. |
Great episode. I love the Angelus character so I'm excited he's back. DB does a great job in distinquishing Angel from Angelus.
Am I the only one who starts cracking up when DB does his facial expressions for when the moment of true happiness occurs? |
I join those saying "Hurrah!". A fine, fine episode. I absolutely *love* that they made the "dream" part so easily-resolved and cliched. I mean, at first I hated it because it was so ridiculous, but then when I realized what was happening, I adored it. I couldn't believe I fell for it right up until the Beast was defeated. *That* was what tipped me off that all was not right in the City of Angels. Some people caught on way earlier than I did, but that's okay. I fully admit to being gullible. :)
Okay, one of my favorite parts was one that they showed in the promo. Angel tells Connor to kill him if something goes wrong and of course, Connor says "OK" and Angel says "IF!". So funny to me, although I suspect Connor would have a harder time killing Angel than he thinks he would. I also loved the whole "I am Angel, Champion, Defender of the World, Preventer of Apocalypses" moment he had with Cordelia. "I must find the Beast." In strolls the Beast. "Oh. There he is." :::rolls::: And God, how I do love Angelus. Back when I was ambivalent about Angel (Buffy seasons 1-3), I *loved* Angelus. I love Angel now too. His own show really brought a lot of dimension to his character. But Angelus? Yummmy. So, I'm thrilled with the promo for next week. Very...provocative. He did indeed say "Buffy", but my opinion is that he was just flashing back to the last time he lost his soul and not on Buffy herself. In his alternate reality, his dream of perfect bliss, is not Buffy. It's a reconciliation with Cordelia (and the others, but they are not germane to this topic). He was not thinking of Buffy when he experienced his "happiness". He said Buffy when he felt his soul leave. Those are two very different things, I believe. ~wis |
And obviously, in Angel's dream, Cordy's preggers (she's showing a lot in terms of her real life pregnancy). :)

"I knew you two guys would get me in trouble someday."

My sister, a Buffy/Angel shipper only (which I find ridiculous because so much of the dynamic of the shows is based on that which can never be) got very upset and walked out of the room when Angel and Cordelia started kissing - and never came back!

I can't wait for the next episode. |
<BLOCKQUOTE> • Quoth tofu •<HR SIZE=1>Which two guys was she referring to? She was talking about her breasts, right? I wasn't quite sure.<HR SIZE=1></BLOCKQUOTE>
That's the way I interpreted it. I thought it was hilarious just for the fact that she said it in the first place, but in the context of the episode it's doubly funny since that's what is on <I>Angel</I>'s mind. das |
Angelus Rocks!

Nice twist; had me fooled.
|
I was fooled, too. I didn't think something was up until Cordy started urging him to do it to her. I had thought maybe she wasn't really Cordy, but a demon who was trying to tempt him to make him bad.
This episode reminded me of the classic short story (later turned short film & Twilight Zone episode) An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. |
Good show but there are two things that are bugging me. The whole Angel and Cordie thing which I still dislike and Connor who has No redeeming qualities. Hes a brat. Get rid of him and Gunn.
Was reading today that Buffy may not be back next year. I sure hope they tie some Buffy/Angel stuff up. Buffy (TV): Syfy Portal has word from an insider on > the fate of the show and > the word ain't good: "There is a whole different > attitude at UPN right now, > and it's not the same attitude that first brought > 'Buffy' to the network in > the first place. (Les) Moonves wants ratings > winners, and nothing else. To address that, Moonves is a very smart man, and I applaud a lot of what he's done since he took over CBS. IMO, it's a smart move to pass on <I>Buffy</I> ... UPN is a ******** and needs to be revamped (no pun intended). And as I've said before, I want this to be <I>Buffy</I>'s final season anyway.
