American Idol - Atlanta & Nashville - 01/28/03

Like I said last week ... wait until Atlanta ... ATL in the house again this season. So many of the people they passed through in other cities sounded just average, but there was some serious talent in Atlanta. Is that just editing? Still seems like there was much more obvious talent early on last time.

Did they said they set a record for most talents selected from one place which is Atlanta? I think it was 46.

Yeah. Kind of early for them to call it a "record" but still impressive. I wasn't keeping stats, but it seemed like Atlanta had the most last season too. They certainly had a lot make it to the final rounds.

The 5 year old kid singing "Let's Get It On" was priceless.

I really hope some of the truly talented singers can make it to further rounds and not get bumped for the "image" jokers who can't sing at all.

That blonde 16-year-old girl (forgot her name, starts with "S" I think?) will make the top ten, if not go all the way.

What was the deal with the 23 year old woman who was in law school? I was hoping thet wouldn't pick her because that is a lot of money to invest in an education to just drop it that far into. I bet her family wasn't supportive.

And I have my fingers crossed that the Justin/Michael Jackson wannabe gets dropped tomorrow. It looks like that may happen since these idiots are stupid enough to go out and drink.

Yeah, priceless. Only 5 years old and he already has that ******** street attitude nailed down. Then afterwards, "The caucasian man didn't like me, but the brown man did."

Honk!

How come everyone sings R&B?

Is that the best style that shows off your voice?

Man, I was dying to hear something different (like Saliva ).

Don't blame the kid, blame his parents. When he used the word caucasian I knew he was taught to say that. When I was five I don't even think I knew the word caucasian. I figured since it was Atlanta he would have used the term "Cracker" or something like that.

How about the showboat singer, that was priceless.

"Okay, you're not a showboat singer."

"F-U, Simon!"

(Paraphrased, but you get the gist.)

Nashville was a ghost town of talent too.

Go Atlanta!

Agreed the blonde 16-year-old will make it near the end.

Keith. Virgin. Okay, that was funny, but I refuse to believe he thought he could sing. I just can't believe it. Is he off his meds?
Is he really just a very good actor? I was really left confused by his reaction after they told him how bad he was.

You know, I didn't think that 16 year old blonde girl had a very good voice. She looked great, but her singing sounded off-key to me.

I was really surprised by that nerdy-looking guy in the glasses who opened his mouth and this amazing soulful voice. I can't remember his name, but I was really impressed with him.

Yeah, she sounded average and had something wrong with her teeth too.

That guy rocked. I love how he came in and said he would have made it into the Top 10 last year and then proved it. Like I said before, I really hope talents like him can make it past the fickle "looks" qualifications.

Yes he could sing but I think he is going to get axed tonight. Just like last season, in the first round they advance the people they feel can sing. Then with the next round, like tonight, they weed out the people who don't have the look even though they can sing. This means white kids who sing too "soulful", the overweight (even though they sing better), and those people that they let advance to the next round and they can't figure out why they liked them. Yeah the nerdy guy could sing but his voice does not go with his look and being a pop star is about the look nowadays.

I'm hoping the nerdy guy went home and worked on his look before going to Hollywood.
