<<Miracles>> [27.01.2003]

9:PM CST ABC
Besides the barrage of ads on the Superbowl, has anyone heard anything good/bad about this show?
I am taping it out of sheer curiousity (and also cause I never miss Skeet Ulrich on TV).

What do you guys think? Gals, feel free to chime in too...

I've heard good things and I'm interested in the premise, but the reason I'm most excited about this show is David Greenwalt. He left Angel to be, I think, the showrunner on this show. So, I'll definitely be watching.

I've only heard good things. Herc over at AICN gave it 4 stars out of 5.

It should be interesting to see how it does. A show like this going up against CSI:Miami doesn't seem like it has much of a chance of lasting very long.

I think it shows promise. Herc over at AICN liked it, and he's the only guy over there I usually agree with on a regular basis. I'll be watching.

Two words: Hector Elizondo

Yeah, I'll watch. Besides, I loved Skeet Ulrich in Ed Wood and Edward Scissorhands.

I think you are mistaked my friend, that was Johnny Depp

Skeet was in The Ninth Gate and he was terriffic in Blow

I did think it was Depp in the previews for a second though and was scared to see him on a TV show!!

Yeah, I'll watch. Besides, I have a picture of Skeet Ulrich above my bed--just like Satan and Saddam Hussein.

das -- I think you're confusing Skeet Ulrich with Richard Greico again. Easy mistake.

So was Skeet Ulrich the one in Dazed and Confused or Mallrats?

I'm just wondering if Dermot Mulroney's show is really a good lead-in for this thing...

It will be interesting to see how this "Disney-downed" version is.

I saw the original Matt Reeves directed pilot and it was amazing. Dark, brooding, weird... but after watching the first act, Michael Eisner said "Not on my network."

He then fired Matt and had DG and another director completely recut the thing, brighten the lighting (literally) and do some reshoots.

Supposedly, it is still pretty good, but who knows...

Miracles 1/27

Anyone else watch this show. I watched most of it, but got a phone call in the middle of it, so couldn't really pay attention for the middle 20 minutes. It seems like it might be a pretty interesting show. I like the idea of travelling around, looking for real miracles, or searching for a darker force behind perceived miracles.

Is this a thread reviewing a show or making Johnny Depp jokes?

This pilot was reshot and re-edited? Interesting. Pretty dark as it was. Good show. It has potential. With the competition though it probably wont last long. It doesnt have a reality show format either and its too serious. No big Breasted Woman.

Das, we cant take anyone seriously like yourself anymore since you have given up on Farscape.

I liked it.

I agree that it probably won't last long with the competition it's up against but it has a shot at being very good if it keeps going.

It's going to be a religous X-Files sans Scully, but I still dug it. As for competition, I dunno, don't really follow ratings that much, but since there's nothing else on at this timeslot I give a rats ass about, it works for me!

Yeah, I liked it too. The ending was a bit predictable, as soon as the boy's power was explained, but it didn't take away from the show for me. What hooked me for next week is this organization he meets up with led(?) by Robert the Bruce.

Now that I've seen the ep, I can see what BoatDrinks must be talking about. It was OK but not particularly dark and fairly predictable. I don't mind the NOW HERE/NOWHERE thing being both obvious and unoriginal, but I did mind the long drawn out scene that tried to build suspense like we didn't "get it." The whole "write it down" scene was too long and self-important.

Still, I like the premise, and I like both Ulrich and MacFadyen, so I'll give it a few more episodes to see where they're going with it.

Spoiler:
God is nowhere

Not bad, but I have too many "must see" shows already - I have to be selective in choosing another show in which to invest time each week.

I'll probably give it a few more eps at least to see if it's something I want to stick with. Last night's had promise, but it will have to get better if I am to dedicate an hour a week to it.

I like the pilot. Will be tuning in next few weeks to see how it develops. The last few minutes where the two guys meet made the show a bit creepy when one guy said he sees the message 'God is now here' and the other guy said he sees different message 'God is nowhere'.
