Lupin III on Cartoon Network!

I just found out last night that they are playing Lupin the Third episodes on Adult Swim Monday through Thursday at midnight Pacific Standard Time.
The dubbing is kind of freaky and the animation is nowhere near the quality of Miyazaki’s work, or much of what came after, but they get the names and character relations correct and it is pretty damn good.
If you liked Castle of Cagliostro (or The Fuma Clan Conspiracy or The Gold of Babylon or…well, if you haven’t seen any of these, then you haven’t probably seen any others.)

Anyway, I recommend it…highly.

I'm pretty sure Miyazaki did direct a few Lupin episodes, but I'm not sure which ones they were or when they came out. I've just heard different things about them.

Yeah - he did the last episode of season 2 and an episode a couple before that (145, I believe). Farewell, Dear Lupin and Albatross, Wings of Death. Since I think only the first 50 or so episodes were liscened, we wont get to that batch in this run.

Did anyone see last night's?
The guy who dubbed the villain was trying soooo hard to do a perfect Christopher Walken imitation and he was terrible. It was great!
The dialogue was pretty funny.

"Hand the file over! Over."
"Can I roll you in the clover? Over."
"GO TO HEEELLLLL!!! uh, Over."

(I'm sure you had to be there, but it really was good.)

I really wish my VCR wasn't dying. The midnight slot's a pain in the neck!

This is getting programmed into my TiVo as soon as I get home... Thanks for the mention, kudama... I've never seen any of them, but I really enjoyed Castle of Caligliostro, and I figure I've got a taste for old-school since I was raised on Speed Racer and Gigantor cartoons... Sounds fun...

This is the second Lupin series which ran from 1977-1980, hence the rougher animation.
