You can't deny that he is a good actor.
I think you have too much of a hard on for James that you can't get The Sopranos off of your mind.

I agree.
What are the initials an acronym for?
I wonder what they call her on set?
Actors, Directors, etc. :
Hey CCH!
Hey C!
Other people who don't know her:
Miss Pounder.

And I'm not so narrow in my tastes as to exclude Chiklis from my roving "bear" eye. Although, he was far, far hotter when he had the belly on "The Commish" than he is in slap-happy "Shield" mode.

Im not saying that it bothered me, but we all know Vic's character and he would have dropped his ass without a hesitation for coming after him. And the thing with the wife investigating her husband's background is just going to be a real b**ch this season.

Wish I hadn't missed the first episode. At least I finally got my cable back.

I also just caught the re-airing tonight and this is why Chiklis and The Shield won Golden Globes tonight and Gandolfini and The Sopranos did not. I am a big fan of The Sopranos but this past season pales in comparison to The Shield.

I just got around to watching this. I think Vic making grilled cheese with that guy's face has to rank pretty high on the memorable moments in recent TV.

• Quoth C00Ki3 •
Its pretty sad that Arabs (or South Asians for that matter) are almost *never* on TV to begin with, and when they are, nowadays its only to make some cheesy 9/11 point. Here is an idea: lets have an Arab character on the show once in a while whose purpose isn't *purely* defined by his race.
To rant a little, its kind of funny how in real life you see South Asians and Arabs all over the place. Doctors, landlords, hotel owners, hell fast food managers. Yet on TV, you see the occassional cab driver or quickie mart owner. Granted, there are a lot of Arabs employed this way. But we should be seeing a lot more, and in more varied roles.
Not every Arab-American's life is in total turmoil over 9/11. How about seeing some of them out of this context?

I'm not even sure what an Arab technically is, let alone what constitutes an Arab-American. I can only assume it starts with the Arabian peninsula and includes Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Yemen, and smaller guys like Qatar and Bahrain. But where do you draw the line? Egypt? Iraq? Jordan, Israel, Lebanon? I guess I'd need a broader definition to address your claim.
However, I can say that I've seen many strong Middle Eastern characters, most often portrayed as doctors. There seem to be a lot of roles for Middle Eastern and Indian doctors. I can't think of any recurring starring roles offhand, except maybe Oded Fehr on Presidio Med (and UC: Undercover last season). And I don't think Monk's heritage is ever really discussed (which I imagine should be a good thing), but Shaloub definitely portrayed an immigrant in Wings which for you trivia buffs also starred Amy Yasbeck (another of Lebanese descent), so it's not like it's a secret.
I can see your point, though. I do think there are many everyday Arab-American characters on television; they're just very "Americanized," and there's not a big arrow telling the audience "this guy's an Arab."

• Quoth Barings •
He actually portrayed an Italian-American by the name of Antonio Scarpacci.

Ya know, I have absolutely no idea why I typed that. That's what I get for posting from work. I meant to say "immigrant" but I guess the term "Arab-American" was on my mind. Guess that's what I get for not paying attention when I post. Thanks for the correction -- it sounds more stupid each time I read it.
"was definitely portrayed an" - that just makes no sense.
