Best episode for me this year. Better than anything seasons 11 and 12 did. Laugh out loud funny throughout. I was floored when in Rod's movie the space suit turned around and Rod's head of course did not.

It's the episodes that are more grounded in reality that really stand out for me more. The first seasons were more like this. The more outrageous the plot, the more you can feel the writers overreaching.

One of the funniest episodes I've seen in a long time ( and I tend to think every ep has at least a few great laugh out loud moments).

Highlights for me:
-Rod's "movie", with his hobbies of clapping to music and diabetes
-Lisa's "movie", especially the McNuggets bit

It was definitely one of the better episodes this season. Sometimes they don't even bother trying to make sense. Watching the DVDs makes me wonder how much James Brooks is involved with the show these days.

I don't know why I didn't like it, but I thought it was kind of boring. I think I've had a Simpsons overdose or something.

Perhaps we're right...and everybody else is wrong?

Can anyone remember the name of the Miles Davis song that was played in this episode (Lisa's favorite song) ? I can't remember and it's bugging me.

I'm at work so I can't find it right now, but turn on your closed captioning. The song is identified as it's being played in the subtitiles.

Unfortunately, I didn't tape it. I remember that Lisa mentions the name pretty clearly, and I think we even see it briefly on Homer's "cheat sheet". I just can't remember what it was.

The funniest line for me was in the promo only: Lisa and Homer are in the car fleeing the cops and Homer says to Lisa, "They have enough evidence to send you to Oz Jr." He then pulls out a tape recorder and makes a note to himself, "Great idea for show. Oz Jr. Pitch everywhere but ABC. They're idiots."

It was Lisa's favorite ALBUM, not song and it was Miles Davis' The Birth of Cool - it should have been Kind of Blue, instead.

I have to join the side who thought it was boring... it wasn't too bad, but not good either.

I thought it sucked. Not sure why I watched it. This is the first one I've bothered to tune in this season. The Simpsons jumped the shark several years ago. I wish Fox would hurry up and cancel it.

Good episode.

Am I the only one who got about 7 minutes of an old episode (Homer's web site), and then when the commercial should have appeared, it instead cut to tonight's new episode, already in progress? I'm assuming it was just the local DC FOX station that screwed this one up good.

Every week it seems like some other local station is having problems and forcing me to turn to the Internet to download VCDs of TV shows that I want to watch. I've pretty much given up on UPN already and their constant dropout problems, and now download Buffy ahead of time instead of trying to watch it on cable. Fox has been pretty good, but so much for watching the Simpsons tonight.

So for everyone who doesn't live in DC, how was it?
You think your UPN is bad? At least once a week I'll be watching The Simpsons (in syndication) and the first 5 minutes will sometimes be dubbed in Spanish. And on many occasions, right as they are breaking for commercials, there will be snippets of older commercials from up to 7 years ago. Last week I heard a trailer for "That Darn Cat" (1997)! I've come to the conclusion that UPN is run by circus chimps.

So... something I caught on replay that I should've realised before...

Shouldn't getting hit by the Flying Giuseppe have killed Homer? (think back to the episode where Homer becomes a sideshow freak, where the doctor tells him that one more cannonball to the stomach will kill him...)

Sorry, but that comes from being a complete Simpsons Geek. Otherwise a good show.

I thought the same thing while watching the show. Maybe it's because Giuseppe is softer than a cannonball, or flying at a slower velocity.

I too got the DC feed with the mucked up opening. I had taped it and almost shut it off but I wanted to see this part...

Glad I waited that long. What I saw of the new episode was hilarious, "Maggie, you're her best friend. Go see what's wrong with her."

Last week The Simpsons was broadcast here with the spoken commentary for the blind. It spoiled all the visual gags because it takes longer to explain them than to show them, so the explanations had to start early.

Simpsons has certainly changed over the years. I think the humor caters to different types of people and has constantly changed since its inception. I still love the show and I'll be there whenever its on.
