A little off topic, but am I the only one who refuses to watch "TV" versions of great movies? How can anyone watch classics like "Blazzing Saddles" or "Animal House" on TV???? Once upon a time this was the only way to see movies after their theatrical run, but today.....come on!

So am I the only one that when a movie comes on broadcast tv, IF it's one of my favorites, I'll throw the dvd on instead?

According to my TiVo, Ferris Bueller's Day Off seems to be playing every other day on VH1 (You know, that other station that used to play music videos).

Godfather (come on, how many times has it been on in the past few months, and marathons of Godfather also)
Anything TNN and TNT gets the rights to air.

Up to the mid 90's every channel played this non-stop because the copyright had run out and it was free domain. So any channel could air it for free... and did. Over and over.
However, NBC now has exclusive rights and shows it 2x... at the beginning of the Christmas season and on Christmas Eve.
A movie shown twice a year is not over-played.

Cast another vote for The Breakfast Club. So many of the films listed are relatively new, but The Breakfast Club was being overplayed back in the late 80s. Even now, it seems like it's on at least once a week.
Times have changed, but if you had asked this question 5 years ago, it's unlikely anything could top the replays of Cobra and Over the Top.
Gotta agree on Alligator too. I can't believe how frequently Sci-Fi shows that.

Paramount's decision to air The Godfather on every one of their cable channels (even VH-1) is rediculous. I'd like to watch music on VH-1, but they're in the middle of a 8 hour a day, weekend long Godfather Marathon

I can't believe it took 30 posts for someone to stumble into the correct answer!
Between HBO, Skin-a-max and the Turners the video tape would strech to the sun and back.
