In that article, they do mention that his upbringing was at least upper-middle-class and that he did go to a private school. Probably the most revealing thing is that he's an aspiring actor, which shows you why he's on this show.
I think people are getting a little confused. Do you really want the person you like the most to "win" this contest? I really wanted Heidi to win, not because I think she deserves it, but because she would give the best reaction when she found out "the truth." I like Zora the best, because at least from what we've seen she's never gossiping or putting others down, and she seems down to earth, but i don't want her winning...
The host must have done a terrible job. She's only on the show for a few minutes each episode, and does things the butler could easily do. In fact, the butler is the one who introduces and ends the show, a role I would think would be more suited for the "host"
I don't know if it's an act or what, but Evan's choices are pretty random. He picked one girl, even though she wasn't his type, because she's hot and he'll take a chance on her. What happened to loving a person for who they are? If he came up with the "dates" (which I highly doubt), his rationale is rather suspect. "I wanted them to shovel horse poo because I'm a construction worker, and I smell similar at the end of the day" What in the world? And why is he lingering on an iodine enema? It looks more and more like his lines are scripted so that he looks dumb.
Why'd he pick "Mojo"? Sure, she dominated the other three in the train, but he looked so bored as she kept on talking and talking. I don't see him as someone who would be interested in talking all that much. Must be the cowboy hat that caught his eye in the first ep...
The reactions of the girls when they found out what the dates really entailed was priceless, though. Dayana's "princess speech", Melissa totally fooling Evan into thinking that she liked picking grapes, Heidi staying home at the ranch.... much more entertaining than last ep's ball. Zora looked the most like someone that really got into it. Everyone, though, is doing it for the money and/or his looks. Nobody's seen enough of Evan to really get to like him, fake life or real, and they sure wouldn't put up with dates like that if not for the cash. Near the end, that one girl talking about how she thinks Evan's great, then goes off on how she likes staying there and she likes the pearls, etc. was priceless.

The five minute long opening sequence tells you a lot about the story arc of the show. It's pretty spoiler filled, actually. Since I knew that this week was the "chore dates," I watched the opening sequence carefully and was able to determine the girls that would be moving on this round from the clips of them on individual dates with Evan.
Anyway, here's the story progression as I see it's going to happen:
1. Paul Hogan converts "average Joe" into a suave "millionaire."
2. Bring out the women. Edit them so that the longer they stay in the show, the nicer they appear.
3. Now the audience (and Joe) who formerly wanted to watch the golddiggers "get theirs" will start to feel sorry for the "nice" girls who remain.
4. Joe reveals the secret and girl makes her final decision. Regardless of how this goes it'll be edited so we now feel sorry for both him and the girl.
5. ??? Some sort of surprise from Fox. "Well, Joe...now you ARE a millionaire. Here's $1 million bucks." Happy ending, everybody wins.

When I first saw the promo, I thought this was a good idea. "Yeah. Show these $$$ grubbing chicks a thing or two." But as time goes on, I think the audience is being duped. I mean, think about it. Wouldn't the whole "his inheritance is fake" aspect be richer if "Joe" had thinning hair, a beer belly, & an overbite? Instead, what do we get? Well, i'm not going to run down his attributes. But you've seen the pics [and the show, unlike myself]. Even if he wasn't rich, do you think they would turn down someone who looked like that and would be sure to milk this "reality" thing for each one of its 15 minutes?
I think not. But this is just my opinion. I could be wrong.

The following is from Heidi's bio on fox.com:
Do you get upset when you dont get your way?
I don't get upset when I don't get my way. How insulting. I believe that phase of my life ended when I was two!!
HAHAHAHAHA

Watched the show for the first and last time last night. Some of the reactions from the girls were slightly entertaining, but I saw nothing that would make me want to waste an hour a week on this.

My favorite comment, is from the one girl (not sure of her name), but she says, she respects that he just came into his money....
Somehow she respects that he supposedly was just lucky enough to inherit it all?!?

I liked the premiere much better. Anyone else think the payoff from this show is only in either the finale or in the times where he has to make up lies? Other than that, this is simply "The Bachelor" on FOX.

I can't wait to see the premiere rerun on Thursday.
As for some of the other comments, yes the rich guy should have been someone who looks more like Danny DeVito and with BO.
I wish they had showed more of the women shoveling horse manure when they were at the stables.

I'm sure Puddy is smarter...
Hell, the tree stump in my front yard is probably smarter.

that said, i'm rooting for Melissa M. - I just have a weakness for that Irish dark hair pale skin combo
Although i gotta say that i actually like Zora the best, but hope she's spared the ignominy of the final episode's revelations......
