Enterprise 12/11/2002
Title: Precious Cargo
Production Number: 137 Airdate: 12/11/02
Written By: Rick Berman and Brannon Braga (story);
In the eleventh episode of the season, "Precious Cargo," Captain Archer and the crew of the Enterprise meet some new aliens dealing in a mysterious cargo. After answering a distress signal from an alien ship, Enterprise offers engineering assistance to the ship of two aliens--'Firek Goff' and 'Firek Plinn'. Dirty and grimey from their long journey they dock their ship alongside the Enterprise and come aboard.
Archer suggests a mututally beneficial arrangement and offers the aliens passage aboard the Enterprise, which can travel much faster than their warp 2.2.-capable vessel. The captain hopes that Goff will facilitate an introduction to an unexplored inhabited planet along the way. Goff is uneasy, eager to stick to the plan as previously worked out. He declines Archer's offer, saying that he must deliver the passenger at the appropriate time--in five months--due to various complications. The captain is somewhat suspicious but is content to show his guest a hot meal for now.
Ok, trash away. I happen to enjoy Enterprise.

I guess they're running out of old Trek episodes to rip off so now they're moving on to cheesy romantic comedies. Ugh, I could actually feel the bile rising as the episode went on.
On an interesting side note, the woman playing the 1st monarch Padma Lakshmi in real life is Salman Rushdie's girlfriend.

Brilliant ... absolutely brilliant! Oh wait, this is the Enterprise thread? Nevermind.
Mix a lot of Elaan of Troyius, add a dash of Attached, and just a hint of Rowan & Martin's Laugh In, and oops ... I just got my undergarments wet ... what ever shall I do?

I thought it wasn't that bad. The music was different, reminded me of TOS when they started going at it.
T'Pol was pretty funny in the tribunal scene. Not the most significant story, but fun nonetheless.

I had to laugh several times (paraphrased):
The skirt ripping scene. Gotta show off those legs!
"Oh, the life pod is only designed for one!"
"Can you pilot the thing? Ok then, get in."
"I need to find the retro thrusters. Let be check under your behind."
And then they land on Dagobah. Did anyone else expect Yoda to pop up and start training Tripp to become a Jedi?
I actually enjoy Enterprise for what it is: A campy mindless romp through space using Star Trek as a backdrop. Turn off your brain and enjoy!

Hi,
well, certainly the worst of Enterprise isn't nearly as bad as the average Voyager episode but speaking as a life long Trek fan, things have gotten pretty sad. I'm still tuning in every week and I'm hopeful every week for a good episode. That said and maybe I should chalk it up to lowered expectations but last nights episode was one of the better ones this season; still, the franchise is just tired. Personally, I miss the days of DS9 and it would be nice to see the franchise go in a different direction like that series but at this point I don't see it happening. The thing is sci-fi pickings on TV are getting pretty slim. With Farscape pretty much gone, Firefly in serious danger, Enterprise is one of the last outposts. So I'll stick around with the show and try not to complain.

The shape of the pod falling to the Dagobah-like planet looked much like R2 and 3PO's escape pod in the original Star Wars.
Of course, they didn't take it far enough. I expected the escape pod to be eaten by a swamp creature.
"Enterprise" has fast progressed from "cave Trek" to "do-anything-to-get-them-in-their-underwear-and-say-butt Trek."
Was I imagining things or did the princess have those facial leopard spots common to a trill?

You were not imagining things, I noticed the facial leopard spots among other things. Padma Lakshimi has very loooong legs.
After rolling around in the water and making out it reminded me of TOS Trek where Kirk invariably made out with every female the ship encountered...

For years now, we've been forced to ingest unimaginative plot repititions and recycled story lines. It's a desensitization that has resulted in lower standards and expectations by the many viewers. ENOUGH ALREADY!!! Please give me good Trek

on a technicality here...
Captain Archer said they could take them to thier destination faster, and that they can put thier ship "in the shuttle bay".
Wasnt that ship just as big as the Enterprise? Where was he thinking he'd put it? Can they tow an equal sized ship at warp speed?

actually, she has the spots that Kriosians have, see TNG ep "The Perfect Mate" for an example
she did say she was from Krios Prime, or Kriosian prime, something like that

It also referenced a lot of classic romantic comedies such as It Happened One Night.
I'm not sure I liked the episde but it was probably the most entertaining Enterprise episode I've seen.
It's not Trek, but it was fun.
