anyway, my question is, do you have favorite shows on "X" night of the week on different channels..

as in, on Wednesdays, i start by watching Ed on NBC, switch over to CBS for The Amazing Race, and then back to NBC for Law and Order.

on Thursdays, i recently started watching CSI... so my new schedule is NBC for Friends and Scrubs, then CBS for CSI, and back to NBC for ER.

i'm just curious how everybody else might mix it up. those of you with TiVO probably watch shows on at the same time on different networks.. so, in that case, i ask which show do you give priority to? what do you watch at it's actual time slot? (assuming you're not TiVOing because you're out of the house)

I have a Replay TV which tapes all my shows regardless of what network they are on. I always watch them later (either that night or later) to avoid commercials.

I do have a few network blocks that I record, the main one is Thursday nights CBS (Survivor-CSI-Without a Trace.)

There are also a bunch of 2 hour blocks: Sunday I record Alias & The Practice off ABC. Tuesday- Gilmore Girls & Smallville. Wednesday: Enterprise & The Twilight Zone. Friday is Firefly & John Doe from Fox.

I also tape other shows on my other machine/cable box such as Buffy & 24 on Tuesday, etc.

Before TiVo, I used my VCR. Before that? I would often jump channels. It's not that hard ... when a better show is on another network, I grab the remote and change the channel.

Now that I have the DirecTiVo and can easily record 4 shows while watching a 5th, preference goes to anything that's High Definition (or the show that looks best in HD at the time). If there's nothing that fits that, usually I'll watch the show I care least about live. When I'm watching something live, there are so many time breaks for commercials that I do other things and don't pay attention as closely. Knowing that, I try to save my favorite shows for the TiVo so I can watch them straight through without interruption.

Absolutely. I know exactly what's on, and thus what I want to watch.

Right now Tues. are the best example of this: WB for Gilmore Girls, FOX for 24, ABC for NYPD Blue, then UPN's Buffy on tape.

In fact, if there's nothing I want to watch, say, between Friends and ER, I can even turn the TV off after Friends and do other things around the house and somehow manage to get back in front of the TV just in time for ER. Impressive, huh? Just don't tell NBC this, I don't think they'd like that idea one bit...

I can't remember the last time I regularly watched an entire night of TV on a single network. I think it was at some point during the Cosby Show run...

I know that people supposedly do this all the time (that's why lead-in shows are so important) but it completely boggles my mind-- that most people are either too lazy to change the channel or just don't care what they're watching.

I watch all my TV on a specific show by show basis... and nearly all of it time-shifted.

I record a lot of stuff as well. However, when I think about it - the only consecutive network shows that I watch/record are:

West Wing/Law & Order on NBC Wednesdays
CSI/Without a Trace on CBS Thursdays
Real World/Osbournes on MTV Tuesdays

Otherwise, when one show that I regularly watch ends, I am usually flipping the channel (or my Replay TV is).

I rarely watch any network for more than an hour...i think Thursday is the only day.

I'm not counting Canadian channels tho, since they get to pick and choose shows from a variety of US networks so stuff that's not on the same channel in the US is on the same channel here.

Don't watch network TV. Nothing worth watching.

Same for me.

Only on Tuesday. I switch to ABC after Frasier. Otherwise I stay the whole line up for the network.

The only consecutive shows that I try to watch are:

Third Watch/Crossing Jordan

Gilmore Girls/Smallville

Friends/Scrubs

Firefly/John Doe

I am either flipping through the channels to find the next show or wearing out tapes on the vcr - All I want for Xmas is a Tivo...
