Futurama 11/17 rant
Ok, I know that Fox cutting off Futurama is nothing new but this time I timed it and there was 4:50 minutes of actual Futurama. What's the point?
Why can't they just talk about the game for 5 more minutes and move everything back so it actually works?

The main plot of the episode was archaeologists dug up Fry's old pizza place he used to work at and they also found his old dog. Fry was going to clone the dog through dna and bring him back, but at the last second he decided not to when he found out the dog lived 12 years after he got frozen. Fry thought that the dog probably forgot about him in those 12 years and had a new family and memories, so he decided not to clone him. At the end it shows the dog sitting outside the pizza place waiting for Fry to come back every day for those 12 years.

but ironically, while sad, that is one of the things I like about Matt Groening; he can really tug at the emotions, even in a 'comedy.' Although that is going a little far : ( I could see it if maybe the dog had a happy life, but kept visiting the pizza place looking for Fry....

welp, the ending proved it - I'm evil.

The Robo-Dog bit was funny "Commencing 2 hours of yipping"
If it had ended after Fry said "No" to the cloning it would have been a standard weekly episode show ending. The dog waiting for him was really depressing ending, but it did make it stand out.

What a freakin' horrible ending! The episode was just OK, but why on earth would they end the show on such a terrible downer? I mean, it's not as if they're "E.R." or something. It's a comedy!! I immediately had to go be nice to one of my pets after watching that. If this is the best the show can do perhaps they deserve to be cancelled. One of the most disappointing episodes of a show I like I've seen in a LONG time.

I remember when the games used to start at 4 and be over by 7 and the few times they ran over they just aired everything else that many minutes late so no one missed out on anything

sad indeed. i too thought maybe the dog would be a regular like nibler, but since these are left over episodes that are presumedly being aired out of order, its doubtful that would happen

Did anyone tape the show? There is is this part where Fry is in the cryogenics room and there is a shot of a waste basket...I could swear I saw nibbler in there..it went by really fast....grrrr now ill have to wait for a repeat to see if Im crazy or not...=)
I thought it was a great show, this isnt the first time the show has ended kinda sad. The episode about Fry's brother was kind of touching as well.

I like these sad ending Futurama eps. My other fave was the episode when Fry goes to the cemetary and see's what he thinks is his brother's tombstone.

I didn't find the ending horrible, but I did find it very depressing. Futurama has ended very emotionally a few times. Guess that's why it won an Emmy! The episode was great otherwise I thought.

As for the episode, man was a depressingly good episode. I was about to tear up.
Reminds me of that one episode with lela finding her real parents. it had the similar type of ending with clips and music piece. only not so depressing.

For a slew of screencaps from the episode, check here:

I didn't see any caps with a clear shot of the wastebasket, however. But there are lots of sad dog shots.
