Even though Friends has thoroughly sucked for the last 3 or so years, I'd give a Joey spinoff a shot.
Of course, I find it funny they announce this now. I guess everyone can now assume that Rachel will end up with Ross.

Can we get a link to prove this show...?
I for one, would watch it...
I can't get enough of that line... "How you doin'?"
But please... anything but a Ross series... that would suck!

Nothing is set in stone, but it is a VERY likely possibility. If I were Matt LeBlanc, I would go for it. What else does he have?!

Yep - he is following the lead of Kelsey Grammar, whom I call the 'smartest man in Hollywood.'
My guess is that he can probably score the highest episode salary in television history if he signs on for a Joey spinoff.

I'm skeptical that a Joey spin off would work, but the show would at least get a token view from the fans of Friends. That in itself gives it a chance (Some shows are killed even before they have had a chane to succeed).
It all comes down to the writing.

.I think Joey has the potential to be a hit comedy in the style of Fraiser (arguably the most sucessful spin-off ever) provided that they keep it a simple comedy with a nice ensemble cast.

The articles are from January, I heard news on the radio. Unfortunately I could not find more recent weblinks.

It's all about the writing folks...apparantly the current writing staff is going to do the Joey spin-off, so it should be just fine.
Frasier is bringing back the original writers this year (apparantly NBC paid more than a few bucks to get them back) in an attempt to revive that show, even though this may be the last year.

... and wasn't "Melrose Place" a spin-off of "Beverly Hills 90210"?

Joey's my favorite, too, and I'd probably give it a chance. Don't watch "Friends" regularly anymore -- I just HATE Ross with a vengeance. Can't see what any woman would see in him, much less Rachel.

And Melrose Place was a spin-off of 90210. It was supposed to star Grant Show, but he sucked. So they wised up and recruited Heather Locklear to carry the conch.
And let's not forget that a TV Talk favorite is a spin-off: "Angel"

I'll watch it no matter what, now that it's a sure deal.
If they can get a decent supporting cast around him
I think it can work.
But it won't be easy.
They'd be smart to have a Friend guest star every so often
so that a little of the old show stays with it.

Don't worry - knowing the (over)promoters at NBC, they will no doubt be clamoring for Friends alums for Must-See-Super-Size-Very-Special-Episode TV.

I'll give it a chance since Joey is such a great character but it makes me nervous that this could go sour.
It has the potential to be really good or really bad. I'll tune in to find out which.

Yeah I would
Edit: I haven't been watching it too much latley but I just wanted to point out that Joey is my favorite character on friends. With Chandler coming in at a close second. Jennifer Aniston at 3rd; only because of her ASSets. And everyone else last.
