I also enjoyed watching the whole BoB series. I like how they focus on some parciular characters in different episodes. Watching the whole series actually made me felt like I'm there with them.

I love the series, I'm so looking forward to the end of the day so I can go home and watch episode 5.

One question, my set only has French or Spanish subtitles, it doesn't have English. I bought mine thru Amazon.ca and was wondering if the US version had English subtitles. Can anyone check? It's on the paper cover that covers the box.

I got mine thru Amazon.ca as well... And while yes, there are closed captions in English, I believe cnynrpr was specifically curious whether the "American Release" had English subtitles as opposed to (or in addition to) closed captions... It's always nice to have the choice between the two... CCs are more complete (but much slower and blockier) while subs are instantaneous and less visually jarring--much better for going back to catch a single missed word, for example...

All that said, my impression from other threads is that there was no seperate Canadian and American releases -- that they were exactly identical.

I agree Adam I thaught he was the "anchor" of the whole series

He was totally believable as the company leader

I was even surprised how good Donnie Wahlberg was..He's come along way since his New Kid days..

You got the right stuff....baby....Love the way you turn me on..

I can't believe I know the words to that song..

ok I took another look and there is no separate English subtitle track... infact I didn't see a French sub track either. So I guess there is one difference.

I didn't even know it was him until the 7th or 8th episode, so I'd have to agree with you there.

Sorry, no French, I meant Spanish. (I forgot and didn't have the box with me but knew it was either French or Spanish)

Thanks for the replies guys.

So what's the deal with Spiers? Was he really the one that shot those German soldiers in episode 2 or we just don't know?

You never find out unequivocally, however, you basically get the answer at the end of chapter 7 (The Turning Point) when Spiers is talking to Lipton in the church. If you haven't gotten that far, just enjoy and keep watching, if you have then just go back to that scene.

Shows 1 and 2 did not have much blood at all in them, but shows 3 & 4 sure have changed. Now it reminds me of SPR and what a real war would be like.

The part that is the most moving in the shows are the real men who talk before every show.

because i was going to China, I took the BOB set with me to watch on my spare time. I ended up watching the entire series in a couple days. I forgot how good the series was. I had the hardest time watch the eps where it was the winter in Bastogne. I don't know how anyone can come out of that without some sort of shell shock.

Talking about the casting, I don't suppose anyone caught Tom Hanks son playing the Lt from west point ( I think it was eps 7 or 8). I guess it helps to have your dad as the execitive producer
