Boomtown 11/3

Thoughts on this episode? Had a few problems with it, mainly
Spoiler:

Was the entire second half of the show devoted to Fearless? Not that I don't mind, but there didn't seem to be as many perspectives in this episode?

Also, what was the deal with the
Spoiler:

shooting the dead guy out of the cannon story. did anything every come out of this?

I miss the aspect of the show where they show a brief scene from the end at the very beginning and re-visit that scene at the end, where it now makes sense given the context of the episode. Like in the pilot, where the grandfather was given his "It's not the Ganges" speach when scattering the ashes. Very effective.

I liked the hot tub subplot much better than the main plot. It was just so off the wall and funny. The main plot turned into an over-the-top "Die Hard in a Motel."

I kind of liked the show. I agree that the whole subplot of the cannon was beyond weird, but it added levity to the episode. I didn't really like the whole ghost flashbacks or the previously mentioned Die Hard angle, but I did like the story.

I thought that the flashbacks to the war was a long time ago, but I guess that it was only one year. Am I correct in assuming that?

The war flashbacks were from the gulf conflict which was a couple years ago. I actually enjoyed the Fearless storyline since it ties in with information conveyed in previous episodes. The corpse in the cannon thing was really confusing but I'm guessing it was to offset the drama of the russian mob storyline. Still not living up to the pilot but pretty good television.

they tend to do that w/ the show. they focus on one character more than another. i enjoyed this episode. cool to see Fearless go crazy commando w/ the sub machine guns.
