Buffy/Angel fans - what about "Ripper"?

Stumbled across this in IMDb today:

"Ripper" 2002

Rupert Giles, formerly Buffy Summers' Watcher on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", returns to his native England to fine a course for his life in working with the Councel of Watchers in their quest to protect the word from evil.

When does this series debut? Does anyone know what network is carrying it? Sign me up!!!!

This looked like a real possibility for most of last year. I notice it's getting much less buzz this year, and there's no specific information to be had, beyond the talking/planning stages. No one has said it's a dead project, but I'd be surprised if it still happens... But damn, it's a great idea for the BBC...

I believe this is only for the BBC. I do not think it will be shown in the states for awhile.

Wouldn't BBC on digital cable carry it?

I believe that last thing I read about the Giles spinoff is that it was 'on hold'. On a related note, SciFi Wire is reporting that the animated Buffy project is now dead.

That makes sense. It was supposed to be on FOX Kids, which doesn't exist anymore. 4Kids Productions handles all the FOX BOX programming for Saturday mornings and UPN also has no Saturday morning lineup. So the show would nowhere to air.

Too bad, even though I'm not a huge Buffy fan, it was sort of an interesting idea.

Funny how the whole Whedon world seems to be crashing unto itself this year. Firefly's in serious trouble, Buffy's almost certainly done, the animated series that never was, and in the spring its the yearly WB lottery on whether or not Angel will survive.

Yeah, it's freaking hilarious. Haaaaaaa!

I think Whedon will be ok after this. He, Chris Carter and Vagina Boy (David E. Kelly) can go and count their money.
