SG1 back for 7th season

I have to admit while I love the show I haven't been able to watch it since the middle of season 4 or so (due to loss of cable access). Hopefully MGM will get their act together and start releasing the DVDs on a more regular basis.
The big news for Stargate fans is that Season Seven is confirmed. A week ago last night (Fri 25-Oct-02), the producers cut a deal with Richard Dean Anderson. Eight days ago it was 'set on paper'. (Smith said it twice.) Richard Dean Anderson is to work a 3.5 day week: Tues/Wed/Thur/Fri am. He will work for 105 days, filming until 15-Aug-03. That week they will film the Season Seven finale, so as to include Anderson. This, they hope, will segue directly into filimg a 'feature'. Smith said this a couple of times, but he emphasised the feature is not yet 100% certain. After that, the spinoff.
Smith mentioned Amanda Tapping and Chris Judge as being on board for Season Seven but he didn't mention Corin Nemec. When
asked about Michael Shanks' participation, Smith responded that Michael Shanks will certainly be returning in some context, but
he can't say what yet.

According to http://tv.zap2it.com/news/tvnewsdaily.html?28661 ,
Stargate's 7th season has NOT been signed.
Id'd like to say that if SciFi doesn't renew SG-1, it'll be the final nail in the coffin, but that ship has sailed long ago. The SciFi Channel died when they killed Farscape. This would just be spitting on the grave.

Don't forget that Sci-Fi also ruined Sliders. At least they have been showing the first 3 seasons the last couple months to refresh fans on how good the show once was.
Also stargate episodes are regularly posted in the stargate binary newsgroup.

To think more people watch this show than Farscape is beyond me. Is because you can watch it while doing something else compared with actually having to think when you watch Farscape?
