Does Gillian Anderson have an accent?

So I caught an episode of So Graham Norton on BBC America last night, and the guest was Gillian Andeson. Right off the bat she's speaking with a British accent. This took my by surprise as I had always assumed she spoke "American-like" as in the X-Files. Then I realized that I don't believe that I've ever heard her speak outside of that show.

So, the question is, does she have an accent, or was she just donning an affectation for the show (ala Madonna and her "sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not" accent)?

The IMDB says she lived in London from age 2 to 11 but she was born in Chicago so she must have a good british accent.

She doesn't speak witha British accent but her "real" voice isn't the same as how she spoke in The X-Files. It isn't british but it is "accented".

She was on another UK chat-show and she said that her residual British accent comes to the fore when she is over here. She also looked younger in "real life"!

She has a slight British accent. I have had the pleasure of talking with Gillian Anderson on a couple of occasions and her accent does seem to change around whomever she is in company with. Sort of like when I go to the South. I was raised there but don't exhibit a Southern accent until after a couple of days being there.

It's like like people from the north, like Fargo, who travel outside of Fargo, and don't have as much of that accent, and when they get closer to Fargo, their accent returns.

Kinda like Madonna, who isn't from anywhere but Detroit but has an accent.

Oh, wait. That isn't anything like that.

It's a proximity thing.

(Not as annoying as "Oh my heck!"
