I have seen two of this seasons episodes, the opener and last week's. Why are so many people down on this show? It is world's better than most of the crap out there at this time. Shame I don't get HBO
, as I would much rather spend time with Tony and Co. than the crew from Alias.
I have the first two seasons on DVD and am anxiously awaiting a third one to become available used somewhere. Were those past ones just exceptional or something? The ones I have seen this season so far are on par with the past ones. Strange.

I agree with Dr. DVD - even a mediocre episode of the Sopranos is ten times better than most everything else on TV. This week was good, just not great - i think y'all have gotten spoiled, and they can't exactly be whacking someone every damn week. They are working on CHARACTERS, and I think doing so very subtley, and very well. And I can't believe no one has yet to mention Adrianna's, um, assetts, in the Crazy Horse scenes

that said, I think it's tie for best quote:
Hesch: "Too bad his mother didn't take the same advice"
Tony: "there are other options...in vitro trusts or some ****"

I believe the jail scenes were filmed when he came back (??)
but he will be in the same scenes as other characters in some of the later season episodes.

Interesting how Adriana has gotten sick in this episode and when she got busted for the coke. Anyone else think she might be pregnant? Seems strange how that started up when she started talking about babies with Danielle. Plus it could be a way for her to get Christopher to stick with her if she tells him that she's working with the Feds.
"...but now we got a baby to think about."
Just a thought, though I really couldn't see Christopher turning....
Could also be dope sickness, since she's started up with that.

IMHO, This season sucks. By far the worst of the 4. If they are building up to some sort of climax, it would have to last 27 hours long to fill up all of the story lines that have been left dangling in the last 2 seasons.
I still watch, but it looks like the show is written by committee. They definately have lost the vibe that made the show great. Now its all about "feelings" and subtle BS. When is someone going to get their &$&%$'n head bashed in !

The characters, and dialogue about the family business is what appealed to me most of all the seasons, not somebody getting wacked every week. What I miss most of this season are the Melfi and Tony sessions, they only had like one so far.

and the 'sickness' when meeting the feds is just nerves...I'm leaning toward what someone else suggested earlier - she's going to commit suicide or at the least, OD - and they'll never know she had been busted.

The show was always about "feelings." The very first episode established Tony's very complex emotional state - symbolically depiciting his yearning for familial love with the ducks on the swimming pool.
If all you're watching the show for is a quick blood-n-guts thrill hit, maybe you should try watching something else.

The show's doing fine IMO. Invariably when a show gets as much publicity as The Sopranos (and Sex and the City) did, people will watch for the wrong reasons and feel the shows sucks when it doesn't do what they were hyped up to believe it would do. The Sopranos is what it's always been: a show about family (all kinds) and relationships. The complexity is as strong (if not stronger) as it's ever been.
We can see them setting up so many subtle things in recent episodes, and I cannot wait to see it all come to a head either at the end of this season or through next season. There's so much going on, so many intricacies, and the writing's strong enough that we know these aren't just red herrings. They're building, and while I don't need a payoff to enjoy the depth of this show, it's going to be great to have one anyway.

Give me a break! This is a show about mobsters! It's all about Death count. If you want feelings there are plenty of other shows OUT there for you to enjoy. Watch sex in the city, Six feet under, Qweer as folk, but don't drag this show down the the same soft path. Killing stool pigeons and hookers is what hoods do. The whole feelings gimic is just a red herring to get the sheeple out to watch it and feel good about themselves. Duh.."Tony goes to da shrink so I can too." Well guess what; Tony's crazy and so are they.

You have obviosuly missed the whole point of this show and will never get into it at all. I don't even think you are a fan as much as someone just looking to start crap. You want death count, go watch a Rambo movie. If you look at films like Goodfellas and The Godfather, you would realize they are more than just murder and death as well.
In terms of speculation about Christopher and Adrianna, I honestly think he would kill her before betrayng Tony. If he sides with her and gets away at the end of the season, then it would really "destroy" his character IMO. I don't know if Michael Imperioli has signed a contract for next year or not, but please don't let him go out like a wimp.
