"That Was Then" Canceled

I also posted this in the Push, Nevada thread.

I wonder if "Do Over" will be next? I think there is a great show if you combined the two: That Was Then needed more comedy and 80's references, while Do Over is not serious enough and has too many inaccuracies.

http://www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/g...ntv&id=20021010

out: abc's 'that was then,' 'push, nevada'

And now the bad: as expected ABC has handed out pink slips to its two struggling series "That Was Then" and "Push, Nevada." The former will be pulled immediately in favor of additional episodes of "America's Funniest Home Videos" as well as a mix of reality specials. Once November sweeps starts, ABC will shift Monday comedies "The Drew Carey Show" and "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" to the Friday, 9 p.m. hour. "Monk" will then shift from its Thursday, 8 p.m. home to the opening Monday hour.

As for "Push," ABC will continue to run episodes through October 24, after which a mix of to be determined specials will fill the hour. Producers of the show ensure that there will be enough clues issued by the seventh (and final) episode for viewers to win the $1 million prize. Finally, look for similar bad news for struggling drama "MDs" in the coming weeks as we approach November sweeps.

Yeah, that sucks. I don't think it was a masterpiece or anything, and to be honest, I enjoy Do Over more, but come on, ABC ... give your freakin' shows a chance! The moniker "Already Been Cancelled" that I attach to ABC seems more accurate each and every day.

It's getting to the point where there should be a sticky "ABC Cancelled...." thread.
As far as the show itself, I'm not heartbroken over it, because I found it to be an average show. But it looked like a show that I could get into given some time. Alas, there's no way I'll ever know now.

Oh well -- two more shows I can delete off my TiVo... I had eps of Push and Then both saved up, but not much point in bothering now.

Susan Lyne, president, ABC Entertainment, announced as of this Friday, October 11, "That Was Then" will be on broadcast hiatus. "'That Was Then,' it was a good show in a bad time period. We have six remaining episodes that we fully anticipate trying in a different time slot later on."

The only shows I watch on Abc now will be Alias, and Md's. That was Then I liked and hope they do well with the 6 remaining maybe enough to keep it around in a new timeslot.

If ABC didn't have Alias, and if nothing else was on at Tuesday nights at 9, I wouldn't even bother with the network.

I only saw one episode of "That Was Then". I think it would have fit well with ABC Family. They might as well, unless they have anything else to air.

I was just thinking that there are an abundance of new shows with the "family" formula - I mean how many "Everybody Loves raymonds" do we need (one of my favs, btw). Anyway - I still am unhappy that this show comes along with a semi-original twist, and it's yanked after two eposodes....

I don't watch sitcoms, but I think there's a serious lack of dramas about families. I hate that all the new dramas that I thought might be a little original all seem to be basically mysteries: John Doe, Haunted, Push, NV, Dead Zone, Fastlane, and the numerous generic cop and detective shows. God this season has sucked. Can't wait for The Shield and Oz.

So...umm...don't move it or anything...just CANCEL it! Make sense...

For the record, I never watched the show but I read that sentence above and it makes NO SENSE whatsoever...

I think "time period" may mean this season and not the time slot?

But with ABC, it's always lies. They always give some lame excuse when sinking a show they never even gave a chance.
