Buffy 10/08/02 "Same Time, Same Place"

Anya quote of the week:
After the demon has been killed-
Willow: "What happened?"
Anya: "Buffy killed the demon.....it was gross."
Emma Caufield's delivery of lines is so comical, I hope she goes the way of comedy/light characters after Buffy - she really has a talent.

Okay the whole demon eating Willow scenes were just gross. Otherwise an interesting episode. Spike didn't seem nearly as crazy here as he did in the previous episodes since he was actually having two different conversations with real people. The whole Anya hitting on Willow thing was weird but I still don't care for Anya as a character so everything she does is just strange to me.

Not the strongest ep by any stretch, but still full of enough great dialogue to have made it genuinely funny.
I wasn't crazy about the return of the Willow-in-peril storyline, but I'm hoping that was just a vehicle to get her back in good graces with the gang.
Anya had me rolling She's great...
And, yes, even Dawn was less of a drag than usual for me.

Doublemeat Palace
One of my questions is, 'should I be listening to the not-so-sane Spike at this point in time?' I wondered what the 'whose got the button' reference was all about.

On Spike taking Buffy to "the doublemeat palace"... Did anyone notice how Buffy and Spike miraculously could have "relations" at any given moment? It seemed that clothing was no barrier! Must be a Vampire thing.....
I know, this post is "so 6th season."

Pfft...vampires are sooo passe this year Actually, it seems they are focusing a bit more on demon lore to bring Anya into the Scooby-mix and I think there is so much more you can do with demons than vamps.

It's good to see that Joss delivered on his promise to take the show back to it's "fun" roots of season one.
Like that part where the demon was eating Willow's skin - that was so feel-good.
Or when Willow came home and thought her friends had deserted her and she still has to deal with the guilt of killing someone - HA HA HA!!!

On a personal level, the characters have seen too much to ever have that "season 1" innocence again. And IMHO it could never have that season 1 feel to it without Giles and Cordelia. I thought both of those characters really added a lot to the show.

Dark Willow: "No one can stop me now."
(blast from behind knocking her down)
Giles: "I'd like to test that theory."
That was one of the coolest scenes in that whole season.

I really enjoyed Buffy. Oh, wait, I meant the movie starring Kristy Swanson.
[threadcrap] We didn't get Buffy in my market until season 2 was already underway. I tried, really tried, to watch the show, but could never make through more than 15 minutes. Last night I tried again, at the behest of my wonderful, intelligent, beautiful, sexy girlfriend. My testes are sore and I have a headache because I subjected myself to a complete episode of this trite, estrogen infused, MTV inspired drivel. 'sigh' Maybe if I was female, or maybe if I was 20 years younger, I might "get it". Alas, I am neither, just another person who grew too old to go with each and every flow. Anyhow, all of it's flaws notwithstanding, the production values seemed pretty good and some of the actors knew their craft. One huge reward I did get was the appreciation of my lady for "trying it anyway". Also, from now I get to go upstairs and game online while Buffy is on. Heh! [/threadcrap]

It was definitely a good episode. I cracked up at all the Xander punchlines this week. Did his IQ dip like 50 points or something? He seemed so much more 'together' the last two as opposed to last night. That bit outside the cave was hilarious! It looks like he and Spike are headed towards an odd couple type relationship.

Glad you stopped by to let us know that we like "trite, estrogen infused, MTV inspired drivel." Thanks for sharing.
Anyway, the first weak, filler episode of the season. I didn't find any of it particularly funny or compelling. Seemed like Spike was thrown in in a "look, Spike's still around, and he's still crazy!" sort of way.
Also, I hate how my local UPN affiliate never airs the previews for next week.

Thought not up to par with the first few seasons, this season has been a vast improvement over the mediocre Season 6.
I liked the comic relief Dawn gave when she was paralyzed and the monster was icky.
The character iteraction and just the way they bounce off each other is much better than it has been.
