Smallville

If you like Smallville then this is your thread! I am eagerly awaiting the season premiere on the 24th of September. Who is your favorite Smallville character? Would you buy the first season of Smallville if it came out on dvd? I think Smallville is one of the best shows on tv. I don't think it gets alot of publicity due to the fact that many people do not get the WB station? Give me your opinions.

I think Smallville would have better ratings if it were on a network that everyone received.

my only gripe with smallville is that after 24 starts, i can no longer watch it.

why do the only 2 shows on tv that i watch regularly have to be on at the same exact time?

You don't own a VCR? You can't tape one while watching the other?

I agree with immortat zeus. I always tape 24 and That 70's show while I watch Gilmore Girls and Smallville. But I have east coast and west coast channels on my satellite system. I can watch Gilmore Girls and Smallville at seven and eight and tape 24 and that 70's show at ten and eleven. I live in the central time zone and I have a mountain time zone show on one of my wb's and I can watch buffy at seven and then watch Gilmore Girls at eight and then Smallville at nine. I'm really lucky with my system but I pay three dollars more a week for it.

I don't think Smallville would ever recieve a pilot deal at one of the majors...it just isn't their cup of tea. Not to say the show isn't good, I love the show, but I don't think it would last very long on the majors.

Thank goodness for the WB twice a week repeats I was able to catch up on the episodes I had missed (which was actually all but three episodes)

Maybe you should ask the mods to change your username now.

Hey clemente? FYI Fox and the Wb had a high priced bidding war for Smallville the WB won but not without paying a whole lot for the show. It has paid off for them so far it has the highest ratings on their network except for 7th Heaven.

No doubt that Smallville does big numbers for the WB. But compare that to a modestly watched show on a major network and it doesn't compare very well. Even 7th Heavean the WB's star only ranks in the 70's in weekly ratings, out of about 100-110 shows.

For the WB its a blockbuster, on NBC it would be canceled fairly quickly for not pulling the numbers. Dark Angel has higher viewership, a high price tag, and James Cameron's name, it had higher viewership....and it barely lasted two seasons.

If I take a lot of money from my left pocket and put it in my right pocket...did I lose anything. Who owns, the WB, who owns the rights to DC comics and the Superman name? Exactly......

Not to sleight the show in any way, but critical and fan praise and the hard reality of the numbers don't always add up.

Just one more thing to ponder clemente. Many people do not get the WB stations at all. I had to pay three dollars a month to get it. I think if Smallville was on a larger network it would be as popular as Lois and Clark was in its hayday. But it is not on a larger network and the world will never know. You are true about AOL-Time Warner owning it all. Also NBC brought Ed back even though it did not have the greatest numbers. They brought it back because it has critical and fan praise. Ed is one show I think would thrive on a smaller network. I fear that it will be canceled. It is my favorite show next to Smallville. Dark Angel was on a large network that many people watched I watched it and enjoyed it but 11 million in ratings on Fox compares to 3 or 4 million on the wb. Dark Angel had a high price per episode too. The people who own Fox also own the WB am I wrong? Ted Turner sold out to AOL right? Wouldn't that be putting money in from the left pocket to the right pocket too?

Oh yeah Fox screwed Dark Angel by moving it to Friday which is the dead day of tv viewing. That really hurt it too

Lois and Clark had a hayday? I've seen every episode, but I never thought it was very popular.

Also, Dark Angel got canned because it sucked ass. Period. I watched every episode, but only out of habit. That show really sucked.

Ted Turner did sell to AOL/Time Warner, but Fox is owned by the News Corporation, and in no way affiliated with AOL/Time Warner.

Zeus, Lois and Clark used to be a top twenty show for two or three years. By my definition a top twenty show is a hit. I mainly watched Dark Angel for Jessica Alba.

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought it was just a cult hit. Like I said, I watched it religiously, but I didn't know too many other people who watched it.

Thanks Zeus. Viewership on L&C died out due to horrible script writing. My teachers in grade school told me Turner owned Fox. I should have done more research before I ran my mouth. Thanks for the answer.

I started watching the reruns over the Summer. A lot of eye candy to look at and I have been enjoying it but my one pet peave is that it seems to be the same plot every week. Villian comes in wreaks havok, One of Clarks friends is in trouble and Clark saves them.
I hear they are getting away from the villian of the week which is good. I'll be watching next season.
I think they should do a whole show filmed with everyone naked.

Dark Angel?
Never liked it.
