a 24 marathon thread (possible spoilers)

im just making this avalible for the people who want to discuss the marathon that starts tonight and questions newbies to the show have (please, oh please do not give away the ending or any major plot details until it has aired, or put it in a spoiler tag) also for those interested, ive got a decent viewing guide to tell you when you should and shouldnt watch.

the first 15 or 16 hours are key and very important to the plot and can not be missed. then you can kind of take a break for a few hours since these imo were filler hours. then at 6 pm tune back in as then a special guest star comes in. or you could just tape or tivo the entire thing and forget everything that i said.

Wheeeee... the longest day of Jack Bauer's life starts in an hour! Is anyone going to try and stay awake with him? My Tivo can grab from midnight to 2 PM on high quality, so I'm gonna do that, and then start dubbing to VHS when I wake up in the morning.

Is anyone going to pass on this and wait to watch it commercial free on the DVD?

This would be fun to watch on FX but a whole 24 hours where you can't stop, while realistic and great, is just hard to do when sitting on the couch. I think I'll hold out for 15 more days and watch it in it's dvd glory.

I plan on staying up to watch the first episode and if it is as good as everyone says it is I will keep my preorder over at Amazon for the DVD set. But since I don't have a TIVO, there is no way I am trying to stay up and watch the full 24 hours.

Jedi,

Watch the first two episodes to be completely hooked. Watch the first three to become an addict.

Anyway, my satellite died so now no Tivo recording.. darn, I'll have to wait for the DVD to see it all. I can't possibly stay up 24 hours with work coming up.

I just finished the second episode and I have to say that I am hooked. This show is awesome and I will definately be keeping my preorder for the DVD over at Amazon. I cannot believe that I chose not watch this when it first ran this past season. I had to stop watching or else I would have been up all night/morning.

*chambers round in pistol*

"I have killed two people since midnight. I have not slept in twenty-four hours. Maybe you should be a little more afraid of me.

SIT."

Get some, Jack Bauer!

I’m sure this has been hashed and rehashed before, but:

Am I the only one who can’t come to grips with a presidential candidate who’s wife is so INCREDIBLY naive that she thinks she can get away with hiding their little problems, that it’ll never see the light of day?

This, being a major theme of the first 2/3 of the show had me constantly doing throughout. It was not credible. And I haven’t even played the race card yet.

Granted, we had a president who was that stupid. But, IMO, anyone these days who thinks that anything can be kept secret when you rise to the level of [apparently quite successful] prez candidate, is not a believable character.

It stretched even my quite forgiving suspension of disbelief close to the Battlefield Earth level.

Since I missed several episodes (and still have to watch the last 4), early on a trip to Blockbuster seemed like a good idea. After the 50th or 60th run of their commercials, I’m trying to figure out a way of humanely introducing a number of guinea pigs into their overnight drop slots.

MORE annoying than the rat? I don't think so.

WebMD seems to be up there in the number of times it was on.

Also, on my cable (AT&T) they had a habit of chopping commercials to play a promo for Food's shows for alcoholics.

The "Son of the Beach" commercials were TOTALLY getting on my nerves.

"There's no way I'm letting anyone penetrate my island!" Or whatever. AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!!! SHUT UP! I would prefer that EVERY commercial be the stupid BB "Maniac" commercial if it meant that I never had to see that one.

Actually, Wizdar, I believe most politicians have secrets that never get out. And even when they do get out they're covered up and the general public never finds out about it. There's been around 3 dozen people closely linked to Clinton who mysteriously died while he was in office, but how many people know about this? Plus Palmer could just claim it's a conservative conspiracy just like the Clintons have or they have the added benefit of saying it's a racist conspiracy.

Figures my comments would lead to Clinton bashing.

I believe conservatives have just as many things to hide. They just have more money to hide them with.

The political figure I had in mind was Nixon.

Static, I would agree about the SOB commercials if not for the overwhelming number of BB commercials that dominated the day. The SOB commercials have the added benefit of a lot of skin to look at instead of a rodent’s butt!

"I'm a maniac, MANIAC!"

hey what was good was that we didnt get to see the "spoiler previews) during the credits. sometimes they gave away too much information.

I enjoyed the show and plan on keeping my season pass for season 2. I couldn't get into it the first time it ran only because there were other shows I watched during it's timeslot. I was disappointed tht I knew the ending before seeing it due to some articles I had read before knowing there was a marathon.

Even though Keifer gave a very compelling performance in the final hour, I was happy with the ending they went with. No tears here.
