Contest Searchlight - Premiere - 8/14/02 10:30 PM EDT

Unless I missed it, I don't think we've had a discussion on this show. With the premiere tonight, I figure it's probably time.

First Project Greenlight. Now Contest Searchlight. Soon Campaign Nightlight, Skyrockets in Flight, and Afternoon Delight.

From it's name, it's quite obviously a rip-off of the HBO series, but hell, it still looks somewhat interesting, especially if Leary gets pissy with the contestants. Anyone else mildly interested in this?

I hope it's a work, but even if it's not, it's still hilarious. The promo for Shews had me in stitches. What a cluster****.

That was funny. Absolutely hilarious. But dang if they didn't shaft Amber. Also, it woulda been nice to see a little more information about how the finalists were chosen at the beginning.

Enjoyed it alot. Comedy Central should just give Dennis Leary the job of programming director and film him turning **** down.

Only downside to this idea? Marathons of "The Job."

From the previews, I wasn't sure if this was a parody or a "serious" rip-off, but I'll tune in. I don't usually find Dennis Leary all that funny or appealing, for that matter, but never say never...

Most certainly its a work. I wondered how I would have missed a a contest of this scope, but hey, I forget stuff. But seeing Dwight Ewell (and a few of the others whom I recognized) is what made me first question it.

Still a great concept and I was really laughing throughout.

I really laughed at this one. There's nothing like Denis Leary being angry. Mocking himself, Project Greenlight, and so forth. Nice.

I didn't get it. Did I have to watch "Project Greenlight" to understand? I thought it was poorly done and not funny at all. The ideas were just stupid, and I can't belive Denis Leary hasn't had a heart attack already.

But if there happens to be nothing better to watch from now on, I'll tune in. My standards aren't that high.

Funniest show I've seen in a long time. Denis Leary is funny as hell. Seeing him get drunk and complaining how a bunch of unfunny comics have shows but he's stuck on comedy central was classic.

And the way they screwed the contestants was great to.

Best show in CC this year.

Yes, they were, that's sorta the point.

The Mike's Hard Lemonade thing was amusing, usually product placement bothers me, but its not so bad in this type of show.

I had never seen Project Greenlight, so I didn't know when I began watching this show that it was a parody. I slowly became clued in over the course of the show that it wasn't totally on the level. Seeing the guy from Chasing Amy is probably what tipped me off the most. I wish I'd known beforehand, as I might have found it much funnier, though I found it pretty damn funny anyhow. But most of the time I was just scratching my head, trying to figure out what was going on.

I just watched the 1st episode (ReplayTV). Damn this show is funny! I also thought it was real to begin with, but it soon became obvious that it's a mockumentary. Project Greenlight meets Spinal Tap. A million times funnier than the Anna Nicole show.

One word....Shews....

Did anyone see the 2nd ep? Does anyone know if it truely is a mockumentary?

I've seen Denis on a couple talk shows (Leno and the daily show) and he talks about it as if it was a real contest and real show, but the 2nd ep was so over the top I don't know if I can believe that.

Anyone know for sure?

If there are any doubts about this being a real show, you should see last nights episode.

Screw this crap. I want my "Insomniac" back.

Dennis Leary is like "this close" to being Joe Piscapo.

So. Not. Funny.

Bring back the drunken whores.
