MTV2 pissing anybody else off?

Ok, I was all psyched when I got MTV2 with digital cable a while back. First disappointment was to discover they showed commercials. Like a friend said, I thought this was music videos 24/7? I'm paying extra to get this and other shows through my cable provider and i get commercials all the time? On top of that, none of the other extra music video stations also owned by Viacom (VH1 Country, VH1 Soul, VH1 Classics or MTVJams) plays commercials unless I am mistaken.

But now the last straw. They've started to play shows on MTV2. I get "Diary" or "Making the Video" taking up blocks when I just wanted to watch videos. Pretty soon I can see the whole idea of a channel just for videos, which of course was what the original MTV was back in the day, going by the wayside so they can show old Road Rules and Real World re-runs.

They already destroyed MTV and are on the fast track to ruining what was a great idea. That and as others have noted before, there is almost no difference between MTV2 and the new MTVJams channel most of the time. I can never remember which one i am watching late at night because it's all hip-hop on MTV2. I like hip-hop and R&B, but I also like variety.

Badger, you on ATT Digital Cable? Can I ask how much set-up cost you and how much per month you are paying? The stupid website took their prices off because of their rate increases (I would guess). Any info would be appreciated.

I also hate it when MTV2 shows the MTV news. If I wanted to see music news I'd go elsewhere. I need to get my cable provider to drop MTV and MTV2 and pick up VH1 Classics.

Yep, MTV2 officially sucks now. When I first got it about three years ago, there were hardly any commercials at all. And they played some really great videos (new, cutting edge, etc). Now, like the one person said, every stinkin' time I turn it on there's some stinkin' RAP crap on there. So, I never stop while surfing. Too bad.

I know exactly how you feel! I have MTV2 back at my apt. and hate it since they show the same videoes over and over and .....

Don't get pissed at your cable company, its not their fault that some channels just suck. Be pissed at the company that owns the channel.

I remember watching M2 (that was before it became MTV2) about 3-4 years ago, i liked it because it was nothing but music videos all day long. The only real breaks were the VJ's doing some brief talking or saying what the next video was.

I remember seeing alot of video's that i know i would have never seen anywhere else, some real obscure things played on M2 and i really liked it.

The only real downside was that the video's were on a 8 hour cycle so that if you caught a string of vid's on at noon you would see the same set again at 8 or 9pm.

As it is now...it will become its name...another MTV station...full of shows, rap, and Carson Daily.

Do not mention Carson Daly.

That punk ass poser. I can't stand him.

At least that show where you get to get online and vote for vids usual plays non rap videos. Every once in a while you will get a rap vid or two, but modern rock, metal, and alt rock's fans usually stick up for the vids on Control Freak (is that the name?) and vote for the non rap video.

But yes, MTV2 does suck. I will take VH1 Classics over 2 anyday. I love the 60's block. The 80s block brings back too many memories!

I think its time for an "I HATE CARSON DALY" thread. I can't stand him he's such a tool. MTV2 will be much better without him

i have vh1 classic as a freebee for a week, and they are a great channel. just wish there was a modern rock channel also, that would contain everything from the grunge era to present day.

I've got 139,258 channels on my satelite and only one VH-1.
How sad is that? So I'm stuck with the original that sucks as
much as her sister stations (MTV and MTV2). VH-1 used to be
a damn good channel. Now? Endless "Behind the Music"
repeats. Celine Dion marathons (!???) Movies (??????????)
Tonight, "Gremlins 2" is on. Um, can someone please explain to
me why?

Because it features that immortal pop classic "Nothin's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Jefferson Starship?

No, wait, that's Mannequin 2. *And* the song bites. Nope. I have no idea.

I signed up when they were having some special promo that got me free hook up so can't help you with that price. However, I am paying about $65 a month for ATT Digital Cable. Thought it was a great deal when i signed up, but since all my wife ever watches is the Food Network and I've tired of MTV2 and the other extra channels I get with it, probably gonna drop it soon and just go back to basic cable. The digital music stations that come with it are pretty cool though. That's one of the reasons I signed up also, but since I got a CD burner, got too much music to listen to as it is.

Uh, Grunter, I have ATT Digital Cable in Chicago and I get MTV2 and MTVJams. Where are you located?

FYI - MTVJams sucks because it's nothing but rap/hiphop/r&b. And it sucks even worse because for the first few months we had digital cable it was MTVX which was all rock and alternative videos. Why did they change it? Why why why?
