American Idol - Round of 10 Selection Show - 7/17/02

Yikes, that was harsh. How Jim got more votes than Ejay is a mystery to me, but I have no problem getting rid of the two of them.

i agree and am glad they are gone. i think aj should be next to get the boot, unless somehow he impresses me next week. my girl and my younger sister also can't understand the appeal of the justin kid (and they both heavily enjoy all the pop boy bands). i think he is an average singer, but i fear that he will win since the teenie bopping girls seem to enjoy him. my vote would go to either kelly or tamyra to win.

Yep - pretty brutal. It looked like the other 8 and the judges and hosts genuinely liked Jim, though, and were sorry he had to go through that. Honestly I don't think he was as good as the rest, but it was neat to see a truly nice person rewarded by making it that far. Talent should dictate the rest of the contest, however.

I too thought it was right that Ejay was eliminated, though I seriously dislike AJ's style as well, and felt he should have been one of the bottom 3. Nikki got a bum deal with the genre - I hope she shines next week so she's not eliminated - I think she's got more talent than AJ and RJ.

The guy(?) that scares me (EJAY) is gone.
Thank You AMERICA for not calling and voting for him!

Nikki did get a bad rap for the genre...but that doesn't mean she can just say that is why she was bad. What about your voice, doll? It might not be that great.

Jim...I am so sorry that your parents are deaf, but you do not have to give this as an excuse to be the "american idol".

I don't think the contestants should have been allowed to tell about their "poor" or "unique" family life.

So what AJ if you want to win to help your numerous brothers and sisters and mother out? WOW! TALK ABOUT SYMPATHY...

Too bad I have none.

Not quite sure whats so hard to understand.

He has a very good voice and doesn't over sing. He has great stage charisma, knows how to work the crowd, knows when to go for it when the auidence wants it, and also seems very down to earth. He has a lot appeal in many areas and although I want Tamyra to win I think Justin is going to win.

So...so happy to see Ejay voted off...all I can say is yuk.

i don't think he has a very good voice. i've seen all the episodes, and i think it is just average. i agree though that he has stage charisma, as he was the only one to seem to make the crowd go wild the other night. go figure though, i agree that he will probably win unfortunately.

also to add i thought paula abdul's simon impersonation was hilarious tonight

All 3 of those guys deserve to get the boot...the 2 who actually got the boot and the third (AJ) lying in wait.

Now Justin is a natural singer and he does have talent but I didn't care for his rendition of the Motown song. You have to know your limits. I suppose no one in that audience agrees with me on that one. When I see him now, I can't stop thinking of the comment someone made of him looking like Sideshow Bob.

Nikki is a good singer but Ben was not the right song for her. That bad choice practically gave her the boot.

All in all, none of them sang as well as the original artists of the songs.

I am not a teeny-bopper, but I LOVE Justin. The first time I heard him sing, I got a Jef Buckley vibe from him. He has a great falsetto that he doesn't use all the time, but when he does it's amazing. I can't wait to hear him perform som erock songs, I think he'd really shine in that genre (although he shines no matter what he does.)

I am so glad Jim got cut. Not only was he lame, but he always had that scowl on his face. I know he was probably trying not ot cry, but he always looked like he was constipated or something.

Now can we please get rid of AJ? His weak little voice bugs me. I want to smack him.

Sideshow Bob

That's *exactly* the first thing I thought when I first seen Justin too. That's ok.. besides all his other abilities, he can work the Simpson's crowd into his growing support. Muhahaha
