Alias & Smallville's Second Seasons...

Hopefully when these two fine shows start their second seasons they'll do away with the annoying practice of playing music with vocals while the characters are talking.

God it's annoying. Why don't they get the instrumental version or loop it or something for chrissakes.

Of course if they don't it's not going to stop me from watching...it's just one of those little annoying things that no one seems to notice.

Holy Shiznit Batman!

The post that started this thread made me a "Senior" member!

And it was a rant too...

Ps -- thanks Snake. Don't disappoint me.

I wouldn't put too much hope for that to change with "Smallville". That's one of the most overused devices on the WB.

It's used to sell music from WB music acts/artists.

I understand this...but damn...at least time it so whatever character is talking isn't being drowned out by the vocals on the song. Jeez...

I've just started watching Smallville. I stayed away from it during the season cause I just couldn't get over the way it looked like it was going to be Dawson's Ville. ( I mean c'mon, how could anyone who looks like the guy who plays superman have girl troubles?? - the guy's a freakin' male supermodel) But my shallowness took over when I had to watch the show to see Kristen Kreuk. Michael Rosenbaum steals the show though. I liked that guy a lot when he played Jack on Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane. I knew he could be funny, I was surprised to see him play the Lex role so well.

I haven't really noticed the music over talking thing. I know the WB uses their shows as heavy promotion for thier music artists and it doesn't really bother me.

I have never noticed the music over the talk. But, now that you have said this, I will hear it every time and it will start to bug me.

Thanks alot!

Seems to be many trolls lurking on DVD Talk... if they keep this up, they won't be for much longer though.

Gay guys lurking? Why even mention it?
Why does that have any significants to the thread unless to say that the guy who plays Clark Kent is a hunk?

I actually enjoy the music with vocals even when characters talk. It gives another level of deepness sometimes to what they say (which is usually not too deep in these shows).

I guess you never liked Magnolia :P

SMALLVILLE (spoilers)

S P O I L E R S from AICN.com

* A good part of the episode is taken up with the search for Jonathan Kent, who vanished amid all the tornado activity. Don’t worry; we know he turns up eventually.
* Lex has not turned all evil. He orders his injured daddy Lionel the best care available. But Lionel remains suspicious of the littlest Luthor: “I saw the look in your eyes, son! I know exactly what you were thinking – life would be so easy without me standing in the way!”
* Lionel is paralyzed from the waist down, but his malady is due to swelling around his spinal cord, so he might get better.
* Lex’s suspicions about Clark are renewed when he sees the condition of the truck from which Lana was rescued.
* More revelations about Subcommander T’Pol and the Vulcan High Command are headed our way.

Try using the spoiler tag next time if you're trying to give a warning, or better yet, just link to the source article.

(Didn't bother me, since I had already seen this at AICN, just a helpful tip.)

Actually Highdef, he means typing:

(spoiler)spoiler information(/spoiler)

when typed correctly [the "()" are actually "[]"] will look like

Spoiler:
spoiler information

I really wish you would've used this because I really didn't need to know what was going to happen with Subcommander T'Pol and how it was going to affect Smallville.

Thanks Rogue. I did say spoiler tag, not spoiler warning.

actually, the vocal musical thing never really bother me, i used CC... I can "hear" every word they said. Not that I'm deaf, I use enjoy reading the words and watch the picture at the same times. I got so used to it... I guess I watched too many japanese animation bad then (VHS age) and i'm used to subtitles... As a matter of fact, CC is a pretty cool tool to get the words of the vocal songs (most of the times, I have no idea what the hell those artists are singing).

I just watched Monday night's ep and I still didn't notice the music thing. But what I have noticed over the 6 or 7 eps I've now seen is that that Zoe/Chloe (the blond, school newspaper chick) is one of the most annoying people on tv. That girl is killing me. I haven't been this annoyed since "Riley" on Buffy. Everytime that girl comes on screen and starts her endless, rapid fire babbling, I start screaming "SHUT UP!!" at the damn tv. Man, I hope she's gone after season one.

You know, Allison Mack is the one reason why I gave this show a shot. If she were to leave, I'd stop watching.
