Beat the Geeks returns tonight

Okay, I think I was one of two people who watched this show, but Beat the Geeks is starting up again on Comedy Central tonight.

It has a new host and supposedly has been slightly re-vamped. Thankfully, they kept the better geeks: the TV geek, movie geek, and the long-haired music geek.

Just wanted to let anyone know, who may have stopped watching due to the slew of constant re-runs.

I like "Beat the Geeks", it's a fun show. Sometimes those geeks totally blow me away with what they know. The host was the weakest part, good to see they got rid of him and kept most of the same geeks. I saw the TV geek on a rerun of the game show "Greed" recently.

Honk!

He looks like a combination of Harry Potter and Alan Rickman in Dogma.

for the new season. The movie geek rocks.

The new host is a loser and that guest geek was annoying. I'll still watch if I happen to catch it though.

I think the new host is better than the last one. He is really sarcastic and I love a smart ass. That old host said "Sorry you just couldn't pull it out" way too many times for my tastes. Too bad he just couldn't pull it out, maybe he wouldn't have lost his hosting job (and his girlfriend wouldn't have gotten pregnant......RIMSHOT!).

The Star Wars geek was an improvement over the old Star Wars geek. She seemed like a housewife or somebody's mom, not a geek. I was pretty bored though when the chick kept picking him to challenge. I wanted to hear some other questions.

I like how they revamped the first round and have brought the Geeks into the game.

What is up with Tiffany's hair? She looks like a soccer mom or something. She was kind of sexy before, but now she looks about 10 years older and not as attractive. I know she has been on the show a year already, but she's not exactly one of Barker's beauties yet.

The new host was annoying to me at first, but he grew on me by the end of the episode. I like some of his quick-witted banter.

J. Keith was all right, but it was like he would sleep-walk through his lines and I wasn't surprised by anything he would say.

The new Star Wars geek is much better than the old one. Though I'm pretty sure that Darth Maul and Eeth Koth are of the same race. And like the Geek, I had silently answered the question "Wicket E. Warrick." Well, at least I'm in good company. (I think E. is the middle initial of Warwick Davis, the actor for Wicket.)

And I have to agree with you on Tiffany's hair, Jadzia. She used to look pretty hot last season, but now I just want to see her. Boo!

I'll catch the reruns this week.

Personally, I'd love to go on the show. Of course I'd want to answer the geek level questions. The other ones are hardly challenging at all.

I remember one chick doing the geek-off with the Simpsons geek and was told to name as many cartoon animals as she could in 30 seconds. And she got only ONE! Meanwhile, I'm sitting there rattling off a whole bunch of them (I think I listed about 15 by the time the clock ran out).

Yea, I'd give them a run for their money. Time to audition.

The TV geek dies that lovely Elvis 'do. He has grey-streaks a mile wide in his hair.

It's true.

I knows it, 'cuz I seen it, live and 'n'-person, at that Wizard World hoe-down last weekend.

I really like this show. How the heck are some of those geeks so smart? I'm not super impressed with the music geek but the tv and movie geek are both great.

I liked the old host. He didn't try to be the center of attention.

It's because they're O-L-D.

The TV geek and the movie geek have to have hit 40 at least.

Up close and personal, the TV geek almost looks as old as Elvis.

Actually the TV geek is almost 34. (DOB 7/18/68).

IMDB doesn't have a birthdate on the movie geek, but I would guess he is in his early 30's as well.

Then, that poor Elvis impersonator has led a very, very hard life.

I was actually thinking Paul Rubens as host of You Don't Know Jack (a game show I wish Comedy Central got rather than ABC).

the new host is annoying, but the old one was terrible. the new first round questions are a nice change. Though I wish the questions were tougher for the contestants at times.

I thought the new host looked like a Pee-Wee Herman impersonator. The new host was kind of annoying, but I'd still rather watch him give himself an enema than sit through another episode of Crank Yankers.

Yeah, Paul Rubens, Pee Wee Herman, that's who I was talking about. He was Troy Stevens on You Don't Know Jack, a greatly entertaining game show that deserved to last longer than Weakest Link has. I think Comedy Central should have picked it up.

Anyway, here is Paul (Pee Wee) as Troy Stevens. Yes, he does look like the new host of Beat the Geeks:

New host isn't great, but then again the old host was pretty damned awful too. At least this one has some personality... maybe a little too much though.

I only get to catch this every once in a while and I have yet to see anybody challenge one of the special guest geeks. They have had a comic geek, a james bond geek and others, but they always go after the music and tv geeks. Personally, I would avoid the music geek like the plague, but I would love a go at the tv or movie geek.

The new host is a total geek and fits wonderfully into the show. JT Van Stratton wasn't a geek. He was a wannabe geek with no personality.

I'm glad they got rid of him.

The new host cracks me up. He is so sarcastic and comes up with some really funny lines. I was rolling when that girl won a Robbie Robertson signed guitar and he said something like "Here, try it on before you put it up on eBay."

We are always imitating his exaggerated game show host voice: "Thanks, Tiffany".
