So...what was the most controversial South Park ever?

I missed it last night - anyone get the answer? I'm guessing that it was "Not Without My Anus" and/or "Cartman's Mom Is A Dirty Slut." After all, their little April Fool's joke caused a <u>BIG</u> stink.

Jadzia 06-20-02 02:20 PM

It was the 2-parter about Cartman's mom and the identity of his father.

ClarkKentKY 06-20-02 02:24 PM

Which by the way, was a very stupid choice. The S**T episode was much more "notorious" in my opinion. The cartman's dad episode is pretty tame, even by the first season's standards.

It would have been a little better had they actually showed "not without my anus" ... cause they never rerun that episode.

Red Dog 06-20-02 02:40 PM

Yeah I guess notorious does not equal controversial. I'd say most controversial is a 3-way race btwn the NAMBLA one, Scott Tenorman must die, and It Hits the Fan.

I must say that even *I* was taken aback by that one. I almost peed myself laughing, but MAN was that gross!

zig 06-20-02 06:41 PM

I thought last night was the 2nd most notorious? hmm.. Maybe I just got confused by all the ads for it.

spainlinx0 06-20-02 08:13 PM

Yeah the pubes were hilarious and gross, but even I was blown back by
Spoiler:
by Cartman feeding Scott his own parents. My mouth DROPPED. And then he's licking his tears? Sick.

But I laughed my ASS off that episode.

I thought that was the best South Park episode ever. Pure genious. And now back to Great Destinations......

das Monkey 06-21-02 05:50 AM

I think part of the "notorious" was the April Fool's joke. That was huge when it happened. They promoted the hell out of the fact that they would reveal Cartman's father for like a month, and then they showed some sill T & P episode. It was great, and they took so much heat for that.

icondude 06-21-02 09:38 AM

The most notorious episode, ever, has got to be Not Without My Anus which was only aired once. Nut the good news is it's being aired this weekend at 2:30AM, or you can get the South Park Vol 4 DVD (I think it's Vol 4) that has this episode.

elektra 06-21-02 09:58 AM

I thought for sure that the most notorious would be the one where all of the rich people move to South Park. I can't remember the name of that episode for the life of me.

You're right, I guess I meant to say <b>notorious</b>.
:)

I agree with the reasoning behind the decision (I remember all the uber-fans getting pissed - personally, I laughed my a$$ off when they did it). But it sucks that for this "special" they didn't air the T&P episode, which was technically the "notorious" episode.

So.....who's ready for some new episodes starting next week? Can I get a hell yeah!

Synopsis of the first episode, courtesy of southparkstudios.com:
Spoiler:
<b>TITLE: "SIMPSONS ALREADY DID IT"</b> <i>Episode #607/Air date: June 26, 2002</i>

The boys break into Ms. Choksondiks’ autopsy to retrieve Cartman’s Sea men from her stomach.

Meanwhile, as Professor Chaos, Butters moves forward with yet another diabolical plan to destroy the world.

Oh man I can't wait. There are just too many things to laugh at in that brief synopsis.

I always thought that the T&P episode was hilarious and loved how they sprang it on viewers. Was always surprised that fans were in such an uproar, just goes to show, many people who watch the show dont get the finer subversive stabs and are just tuning in for crude basic humor... I was actually hoping they would repeat it, spring it on viewers again on 'Great Destinations' night, just to poke fun at the whole thing one last time.

Rypro 525 06-21-02 01:37 PM

i never saw the t&p episode, why is this episode consitered notroius and contraversial even though it was only aired once.

It's not necessarily controversial. Like I said in my post, it was an April Fool's joke. The promoted the hell out of a two parter where they'd announce who Cartman's father was. But when it came time to air part two, they aired <I>literally</I> a T&P episode, not <I>South Park</I>. It was April Fool's Day, and it pissed people off so much. Like others have said, it was a stroke of genius. A few weeks later, they actually aired part two and smacked their viewers in the face again by revealing
Spoiler:
Cartman's mother is actually a hermaphrodite, and she is his father ... so who's his mother?

No, it just goes to show that many people don't enjoy waiting for something for a month and then getting one of the worst 30 minutes in the history of television.

I agree. They took away 30 minutes of my life with that crap.

madcougar 06-21-02 02:54 PM

Was the T&P episode the one with Ugly Bob (?) the guy with a bag over his head? What was Nut the Good News about?

Professor Frink 06-21-02 03:21 PM

For those who didn't think <i>Not Without My Anus</i> was funny, just remember that it had at least one redeeming value:

The first appearance of <b>Saddam Hussein</b> in the South Park universe!

Ugly bob, and brooke shields, and celine dion, and sadam. If i remember correctly.

Pants 06-21-02 04:25 PM

Not Without My Anus was hillarious. T&P arch nemesis (I think his name was Stewart) kept wishing cancer on them. That was the BEST!!! And Tarence is datine Celine Dion. I thought the episode was so funny I didn't mind not knowing who cartman's dad was. Is Not Without My Anus on DVD?

outcastja 06-21-02 04:44 PM

I also liked the fact that they showed T&P watching a brief clip of South Park, in which Cartman was about to reveal his father, then just changed the channel.

elektra 06-21-02 05:34 PM

Actually the other one I thought sucked was the one where they focused on Pip. I think it was a spoof of great expectations.

kilcher 06-21-02 11:06 PM

The Terrence & Phillip episode is on this Sunday at 1:30am (I believe that's CST). Oops, I see someone already mentioned that. Consider this a reminder then. :)
