most final episodes suck. seinfeld and x-files come to mind as recent disappointments. twin peaks could do no wrong in my book, so i'd probably have to vote for that one.

:hscratch:Babylon 5:hscratch:
It's all I can think of at the moment. Some of the best shows never had a planned final episode and I therefore will not consider them in connection with the question at hand:D:D |

Full House
Seinfeld Roseanne |
1 - Twin Peaks ("how's Annie", Wyndham Earl getting 'nuked' by Bob and Cooper being chased by the doppelganger).
2 - Hill Street Blues - Detective Norman Buntz doing what Frank Furillo should have done in Series 1 and laying Chief Daniels out!! 3 - Murder She Wrote - I've never seen it, but it must be great to watch Angela Lansburys @#!"£$%& character disappear, never to be seen again!!!  |
Babylon 5
Newhart Barney Miller Millenium (as x-files episode) |
Suprisingly, as I don't think Judd Apatow knew that the show was cancelled at the time, Freaks and Geeks had a really great final episode. I don't think they could have done much better if they had known.

The one that sticks out for me is the M*A*S*H finale.

Seinfeld!
Alot of people I know always say how dumb it was, but they are the morons if they don't understand the genious behind it. Last scene...they are sitting in the jail cell. The comment on the unbuttoned top button, then Jerry says "Haven't we talked about this before?"...camera pands out. Beautiful. Their whole lives were centered around mundane details. All the did was talk about insignificant things. And now they have to spend a year with each other in a cell.... makes you think. |
