Buffy and Angel - A General Discussion [SPOLERS - please read first post]
Hi everyone.
Now that the season has ended for both shows, I would like to start a general discussion of the shows, through the current airing of both of them. That would be Season 6 for Buffy and Season 3 for Angel. If you are not current on these shows, you may not wish to proceed.
PLEASE DO NOT: Post any spoilers that you are aware of for either show. Please do not drop in here just to thread crap. If you don't like either show, that's fine, I could really give a rats backside, but don't stop in here to spoil our talk.
Speculation is welcome. Such as, "Based on events in X, Y, Z - I think that Buffy could do this" is fine. But - "I read A, B, C on such and such a site and they said this would happen" is not welcome.
If you do post spoilers inside of the appropriate tags and no one responds, that probably means we don't want to know. I know I hate those stupid things so I personally try to avoid reading them.
Let's try to keep it civil. If you don't like what someone says or your disagree with them fine, but please refrain from any juvenille comments if you can.
Now, on with the show:
I started watching Buffy in the summer after Season 2. I was looking for something different to watch. Bear in mind that I had seen the movie and was not thrilled with it at all. I surfed into the first season episode "The Puppet Master" and saw Armin Shimmerman, who I really liked. I tuned in and thought it was okay. Then I caught part of "What's My Line Part 2" and was hookd. I saw a handful more of the second season episodes including "Becoming Part 1 and 2". Both of which I felt was some really amazing TV. So then I joined in third season and really loved it. It took me a while to see all the episodes that I missed. I really found that watching them in order would have been more beneficial. I felt like I was missing things a lot of the time. Especially after seeing Season 2 from Surprise on forward.
I think it's very well cast and written overall. Some strong stories and drama and very underrated by the industry.
Season 1, not a bad start for a mid season replacement. They toned down or redirected the campiness and it worked for them. I love in the episode Angel where Darla asked you know what's sad and Buffy replies Bad hair ontop of that outfit. I just burst out laughing. I really liked the one liners. I feel this show has always had some of the best one liners. They really worked hard at developing the characters. You really enjoy disliking Cordiella and she's good at being the beyoch.
I will post more later on Season 2 and up. Please jump in.

Season one to three of Buffy were class. Season two I vote as its best season, the whole Angelus arc was great to watch, Spike, Faith, had everything. Season three continued it, did it well. From season 4-5 though, we had this were outer highschool, and growth stuff, didn't find it as exciting, but it was still good, and season 6 topped it with our characters grown up, but thats it, season 6 really disappointed me, and made me feel depressed about these characters, and thats not Buffy for me, thats more following Dawson's Creek into the adult world, thats been explored, now yes they need to do it, but I thought they spent too much time on it and neglected the fun, dramatic adventures the characters shares, but I hope season 7 is a improvement, and maybe the final season, get back to the action and stop being so serious about being adults is the way to go, , Angel has a big excuse having been Angelus, which makes it interesting for Angel.
Angel has followed the pattern of Buffy, with its first three seasons being very impressive, but while Buffy left highschool at the end of season three, which I felt was sad, as the show ended its first and best life then, Angel does not not leave school, if anything we've seen new chracters introduced in a family we accept and enjoy the fights with, which is great, as I always feels there's growth to Angel, he keeps on meeting characters that challenge him and its unigue to us.
Some spoilers, small.
I am pretty confident Buffy season 7 will be alot better then season 6, now having spent alot of time showing characters fighting their inner demonds, yes they are grown up, fine, lets get to the dramatic fun action, drama again! And Spike turning into a villain again should help.
Season 4 of Angel, I'm very excited about what in store for Wesley, and the whole Wolffen and Heart lawers bussiness is always a gem, very exciting aspect of the show, plus Angel himself in action situation is done in style, looking forward to more of the same, but more surprises, which we have seen alot of it.
