I loved this show. Stacy Haiduk and those Virtual Reality Probes...
last ep I saw before coming to the states was when they all died on the alien planet and only Lucas, Darwin and Dag-1 survived. I heard they continued it over here with someone else as captain?

I think this was only a few episodes. And for sure there were no alien planets

This had dolphins n' stuff. But this is going way back, back to Knight Rider days I think.

Yes they did continue the show after the alien planet episode. Roy Schieder left the show and Michael Ironside became the new captain. They even changed the name from Seaquest DSV to Seaquest 2032 (because 10 years passed between when the cast went to the alien planet and returned to earth). The show only survived for one season after the change (3 seasons total).
Somehow I doubt Seaquest will ever end up on DVD but I'm crossing my fingers!

Knight Rider: 1982-1986
SeaQuest DSV: 1993-1994
SeaQuest 2032: 1995
So you're thinking in the waaaaaaaaaaay back machine

As soon as they introduced Aliens, it started sucking. Or as they say in the industry, it "jumped the shark".

I loved the first season. I really enjoyed the characters and the budding relationship with the dr. and capt. Which, like most shows went nowhere.
I don't know if it's true or not, but I understand that Stephanie Beacham and Roy Scheider wanted out because they were filming in Fl.
I would love to have the first season on DVD.

I loved the first season of SeaQuest!
Sadly, it went dowhill from there. It was a nice sci-fi show grounded in reality and political intrigue. Then, season introduced Atlantis, Poseidon, Aliens and all kind of other ridiculous stuff. Seaosn 3 tried to ressurect the story, but went too military with Ironside.
First season DVD I would buy in a heartbeat though.

Funny thing is, the final episode of season 3 intruducted an enemy that probably would have been pretty good if the show had continued. Oh well, still fun to watch.
I always wanted Roy Sheider to made some comment like, "I hate sharks" or something. Spielberg produced it so I don't see a problem.

I don't remember it too well, who'd they introduce?

Sci-Fi was showing SeaQuest regularly about a year and a half ago, which is when I caught up on the 3rd season, which I had missed entirely, after having given up on the show after the horrendous second season. The third season certainly showed a lot of potential, with strong overarching themes of war and global conflict that gave the series a direction, as opposed to the awful, meandering, middling, monster/babe-of-the-week episodes of the second season.
