TV Guide's alternative Emmy Nominees
www.tvguide.com has issued their thoughts on what/who *should* be nominated for Emmys this year. I love almost all of their nominees and if I don't love them, it's most likely because I haven't had a chance to watch that show/performer yet. I would absolutely love if every actress in the best actress in a drama series category did actually get nominated. Of course, I realize there is no way that Hollywood would ever nominate actors from a show like "Farscape", but what a lovely dream that is
What say you about all this? Who would you like to see nominated?

It isn't a perfect world. We all know that. Our country is at war. Our stocks are tanking. And, after the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences mails out its 2001-2002 nomination ballots this week, Will & Grace is probably going to muster up enough support to vie once again for the Best Comedy Emmy. But it doesn't have to be that way.
In fact, with The Sopranos out of the running in the drama categories (a side effect of its postponed premiere), so many slots are left vacant that new blood virtually must be infused into the race. So, members of the Academy, we would thank you from the bottom of our hearts if, while you were checking off familiar favorites like Sex and the City and David Hyde Pierce, you also considered a few series and performers that are flying underneath the radar.
For instance, while a past winner like Dennis Franz hardly is a rookie of the year, his squadroom romance with NYPD Blue colleague Charlotte Ross makes us want to put another certain golden girl back in his hands. And, although Buffy the Vampire Slayer — which you shamefully ignored when it was brilliant — flatlined following its dazzling musical episode, its spinoff, Angel, came to life, hitting (and maintaining) a new creative peak. Besides, just think how with-it you'd seem, were you to be the first industryite on your block who dared to admit, "I picked Scrubs — it leaves me in stitches!" or, "Lauren Graham had my vote at hello!"
To that end, your friends at TV Guide Online, helpful lot that we are, have compiled a list of alternative Emmy contenders. Some of them are likely to be on your short lists already; all of them belong there. So please, we beseech you, review these names and titles — more than once, if necessary — and then do your part to ensure that, on nomination day (July 18), no announcer is forced to utter the word Ted followed by the word Danson.

I agree. Normally I would say that the omission of Law & Order is criminal. However, even I acknowlege that it really slipped this year.

Um... there is nowhere near enough love for Six Feet Under on that list. Not only do I believe it should be nominated for best drama series, but my money would be on it winning as well (as well it should). Also, Peter Krause (and possibly Rachel Griffiths) should have have a lead actor nom.
Now, umm... since 2 seasons of Six Feet Under played during the Emmy year, which would they be focusing on?? Would it be both combined? Would the 6FU people ask them to focus on one - would the Emmy people choose one? Or would they be taken together as two? I just don't know how that would work.

If Frances Conroy (the mother, Ruth Fisher, on Six Feet Under) is not nominated for an Emmy this year...I will lose all faith in the Emmys.
She was even better than Rachel Griffiths, IMO, who was very excellent.
Six Feet Under is one of the best television shows to come around in a LONG time.

Well, I definitely enjoyed Six Feet Under this season, but I don't think they had a truly great episode till the season finale. I like their list for best dramas except you have to replace CSI with Once and Again. Now, on their comedy list I only agree with Gilmore Girls. Of course, my other nominees would all be animated shows (South Park, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Family Guy, and Home Movies) and those never get any respect.

CCH Pounder from The Shield would be a great nominee for best supporting actress. She did a great job with a number of the episodes -- the same could be said for Dutch Boy as a supporting actor.

I like the list and am really glad that it had the balls to mention people like Claudia Black and Ben Browder who I think have a lot of range and though Buffy had a really sub par season, I would like to see the Musical episode get noticed.
Six Feet under was missed on the list and much better than the sachrine Gilmore Girls. Ughhh
