David Blaine last night

did anyone see David Blaine jump into those boxes last night? That was not worth the hype. The real trick was how he stayed up there so long, the jump was stupid (how's that a trick when stuntmen do that sort of stuff all the time?)

I came across footage of this last night while flipping through channels. It was an hour and a half before the jump and they were televising it. I thought to myself, "They're really going to stand around and talk about this for the next 90 minutes? That's stupid." Then I realized that it's not that much stupider than standing around for hours on New Year's Eve waiting for a ball to drop. Then I remembered that IMO that's pretty stupid too.

I saw the replay of it on the news this morning and I wasn't all that impressed. Now if he had jumped off the building and dove head first into the boxes, then I would've been impressed.

I was not impressed either. I would have been impressed if he had no cardboard boxes on the bottom. Clearly, the boxes absorbed the energy from his fall -- simple physics.

so he jumped, big deal. It would have been more interesting if there werent any boxes under him.
