20 Years of Must-See TV Special
Did anyone watch? Of course I did.
I was glad to see that they did highlight The Single Guy, Caroline in the City, and Veronica's Closet. I think it was funny when Lea Thompson was like "I begged, I cried" to keep Caroline on Thursday instead of moving it to Tuesday with Frasier heh.

i saw it. i didnt realize there had only been 3 dramas in that slot for all those years. Does NBC not realize that moving a show around 9 times or wahtever they did for a lot of those shows is stupid?

I mean everytime they got a new hit comedy on Thursday, they moved it (Single Guy, Caroline, Susan, etc). Yes, I know, they probably did this so that they could be the #1 night on every other night of the week. However, then after they kept doing this, all the new comedies on Thursday started to fail.
Even take Veronica's Closet, for the two years it was on Thursday it was #3 overall its first year and then #5 the next.
Then they move the shows and no one knows when they are on. I do believe that one of the NBC heads did say they pulled the plug on some of them too soon.

I can see why they want to move them away once. basically you have friends and seinfeld and e.r. as the book ends, stick two new shows in the middle, they gain a huge audience, move it to another night and hope the audience follows.
what i dont understand is why you then keep bouncing it around until noone knows when its on and it dies. Look at 3rd Rock, it has the record number of moves (i dont think it was ever a thursday show, but it was an NBC show)

I wonder if it's even possible to call it 20 years of "must see TV" when the term "must see TV" has only been around a few years.
I was also wondering why they lumped Wings in with the not so good shows. I know they moved it from Thursday but it survived for quite awhile. And it's still one of my all time favorites.
Was it me or was this show more of a "Watch Will and Grace on Thursdays" than it was "20 Years of 'Must See TV'"? I mean it seems like they showed more clips of Will and Grace than they did for Cheers or Seinfeld. Of course it may just be me because of my pure hatred for Will and Grace.

I was a big Wings fan...at least up until Lowell's departure. Thursday nights were never better when Wings was on at 8:30 after Friends.
