Enterprise - 5/15

Wow, what an incredibly pointless episode. Notes:

1. Sorry, I can't buy that Hoshi would hook up with some strange guy like that. If she got swept off her feet by some exciting guy, maybe, but this guy didn't do anything.

2. I've seen far too much of Tripp in his underwear. Why can't it be Hoshi and N'Pol stuck in these situations. Tripp in his undies is going end up being like the caves....

3. Speaking of caves, does the underground wine cellar count? It's pretty close...

I'm praying this is just first-season jitters, like TNG. This show is really boring the crap out of me.

Wouldn't mind seeing more of Crewman Cutler, though...

Crewman Cutler is hot.

The funny thing about Enterprise is that after 10 or 15 minutes in, you can successfully predict what will happen the rest of the episode.

Hey, they have to give the female and gay fans something to ogle, and Tripp in his undies is just the thing! I really do think they're stuffing his undies with water balloons, because that bulge isn't so pronounced when he's got the uniform on.

I'm beginning to think the whole premise behind Enterprise is to show Tripp prancing about with all that stuff waggling around. Of course the fanboys all want to see N'Pol's undies, and that's fine too.

I wish she'd dress a little more like Melissa and a little less like Elizabeth. Assuming FOX sticks to their current plans and runs The Pitts for the fall, I hope she doesn't get too busy to charm up the Enterprise set. It's nice to have Nurse Chappel around.

I liked this episode. Call me crazy, I guess. I liked the idea that Hoshi would hook up w/ some random guy. It shows that the crew are regular people, with regular urges. The Trip and Malcom thing was all too funny. Seeing Dr. Phlox loopy was funny as well. Not a great episode, but certainly decent.

Becoming? He's been the only "character" on the show!

The first show:

Ack! How incredibly predictable! I knew from the very beginning that Hoshi would be the only one to hook up. The only thing I found interesting was HOW she met the guy, and how their relationship worked out. I knew it was going to happen, but the process was interesting.

And the second episode:

Was this a repeat? If so, I missed it the first time. I felt it to be pretty interesting, but the scenes when Archer and N'pol were tied together were extremely contrived. Oh my! Her boobs were in his face! Much as I envy Scott Bakula, it was still extremely pointless.

I like the series.........But..........I have a feeling it's going down the same route as the others...........I hope I'm wrong.

I never liked ST:TNG or ST: Voyager because everyone is too good. I'm not saying this to start a political discussion, but just to prove my point. Both those shows seem to have been "Politically Correct" and very "Liberal" in the views presented on the show. To me this means just one thing ~~~~~ Predictable Boredom.

Life is far from perfect and society (from any time) is/will be full of less than nice even-tempered people. When one writes with these things taken into consideration (like Babylon 5), it makes for an interesting story. When everyone is nice, moral and makes the correct decisions, it's just plain boring.

Think of the best classic Trek episodes. They were full of conflicts, character flaws and the like. It's no coincidence that they were the best episodes because of this fact. ("Balance of Terror", "Space Seed", "City on the Edge of Forever", "Mirror, Mirror", "The Doomsday Machine", "A Private Little War" and "Patterns of Force" to name some).

I hope they get back on course.

Uh, this "guy" might not even have been a guy at all. He might have had a vagina for all she knew. Do regular people often hook up with unknown alien species? She's a super freak.

I liked it.
that guy was exciting for Hoshi, since she's into languages
it'd be like a star trek nerd meeting someone that knew some trek facts they didn't

so was the blonde posing as a human? she had a dog, which must have come from earth, or a human trading vessel

I agree there needs to be less trip in underwear, unless they balance it with more hoshi and/or cutler in underwear

I just watched this and I agree with most of the things people have posted. Show started out pretty good, but it's now in a rut.

Hoshi is much hotter than I ever imagined. What's up with the interspecies sex though? Talk about getting cooties.

This is the first time you've seen interspecies sex on Star Trek? Perhaps you should go back to the original series and watch Kirk get some with every blue-skinned babe in the galaxy.

Crewman Cutler is also on "Six Feet Under" as Melissa, the hooker friend of Brenda.

This is precisely why "Queer As Folk" can also go by the name "Gay Trek." The endings are telegraphed within the first few minutes.

I think B5 has ruined tv for me. Since it's (b5) conclusion I have not been able to stay interested in any series. The new Star Trek is just plan boring.
What would have kept me interested in this episode is if Hoshi and N'Pol would have been the ones having sex; with each other. That would have been interesting and unpredictable and not completly unheard of. There was a female to female kiss in one of the early seasons on TNG. Also B5 eluded to it when Ivanova said she thought she was in love with Ms. Winters.
Throw caution to the wind, do something that we can talk about the next day around the water cooler! (or tv talk)

I think they should go through a time warp to the 24th century. At least we would get guest stars from the other Trek shows and this show wouldnt bite like it does.

Instead of painting themselves into a corner with a prequel, why didn't the creators instead leap us even further into the future?

DS9 and Voyager established that in their future, the 29th century, Starfleet would have extremely advanced time travel ships monitoring the space-time continuum. I would like to know more about THAT future, not this been there-done that crap. I mean, compared to other Trek's the plot of this show is so frustrating. Ooh, we can't beam up from an away mission, so we're stuck here while the shuttle pod comes and gets us. Or what about this episode-- crewman gets an allergic reaction to an alien medicine and the doctor has to treat him. Kind of like a modern day ER episode or something.

Without the advanced Trek technology, it just seems like any old adventure show but set in space. I'd liek to see things we haven't seen yet.

And I thought the best part of this episode was Hoshi getting her speak on with that alien dude. It just shows you how women are more attracted to men that are interesting and intelligent, rather than just on looks alone. This is one of the rare moments in this new male-dominated Trek enterprise that I could actually relate to, as a woman.

The rest of the episode was just a re-hashing of "Captain's Holiday". But the ending seemed wrong to me. Here, Captain Archer was attacked by an alien life form and was given knowledge of a greater conspiracy. And he just went back to his ship like nothing happened?

I would think a Starship Captain would have tried to get his crew to find the woman, to find out who sent her & why. He seemed to just treat it like a one-night stand to be kept secret from the crew. Very strange.

I love Archer but why oh why can't this man have fun???

Even when he tries to relax some bitch with some screwed up motive messes things up.

I can understand that Archer isn't the comic relief of the show but come on....ONE FUN EP won't kill his IMAGE.

When Kirk gets it on with a green babe, it's hot. When Hoshi does it, it's creepy. Double standard and all.

Is it likely Risa would have been existence 100 years before Kirk, et al? Risa was first introduced on DS9. Er, now that I think about it, I thought Risa was introduced on TNG. I looked up Risa on startrek.com's planet database to see episode references.
