Good find! Thank you

What about Futurama! Its so much better than Simpsons, but it keeps getting treated as the bastard child!

I was thinking that the first article kinda contradicted the hilarious song at the end of their most recent clip show. You know, the parody of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" that went, "They'll Never Stop the Simpsons"

I heard this on the radio yesterday, and then heard today that Matt said the comments were taken out of context, and the Simpsons will continue on for "years and years".

everyone knows better than to think that a show that can continue to bring in such strong ratings will end while still at the top.

they have already finished 300+ episodes.. which means if they stopped right now.. they already have 10 episodes complete for season 14.. odds are, they are even past 300 by now, and I would say there is a pretty good chance they are pretty close to starting on the eps for season 15. They have been good about having at least a season or so finished ahead of time.. so even if the point ever comes where matt decides not to write anymore.. fox will have a couple seasons to release, while matt comes back to his senses :D

Very true.

I get more laughs out of Futurama than i do the Simspons. The recent "Star Trek" episode had me laughing till my eyes watered...Simpsons haven't made me do that since the episode where Homer & Marge had sex all over Springfield.

I'm sorry, but i feel the Simpsons are past thier prime. And i think its sad that Fox is clinging to this show and canceling a host of other shows without giving them the support they gave the Simpsons. :(

but there arent near as many people that feel this way
everyone I know, loves simpsons.. I dont know anyone that likes futurama (except a couple people on this board of course).
Ive tried watching futurama, and every once in awhile, it will bring a chuckle, but rarely much more.
but I guess thats why futurama's ratings lead to its cancellation.

there are obviously people that really love the show.. thats obvious by reading the threads in here.. but there are 1000 times more people that still love the simpsons, even if the show is not as great as it was in its prime

syndication is still showing the "bad episodes". Just out of curiosity, what are your favorite and least favorite episodes?

mine are: favorite: Homer and the monorail, and the people of new york vs. homer simpsons (two episodes that syndication in my area have not played in at least 10 months.

least favorite: 25 short stories about springfieldians, and all singing and dancing

I'm not even sure why the show is called "The Simpsons" anymore. I think it should be renamed "The Homer Simpson Show" because that what is usually focuses on, Homer's dumb scemes/adventures.

BlackCapTen 05-05-02 08:54 PM

Interestingly enough, one of my all time favorite simpsons episodes is the 25 short stories about springfield.

I have to agree that the show is not as good as it used to be, but it still cracks me up more than any other show (tonight's was great- Apu Cheats). I think it depends on your taste in humor (of course). Also important is understanding the jokes and references, whether it be to movies, music, TV shows, media, other episodes of the simpsons, or other aspects of life. If you don't pick up on a lot of that, you won't laugh much!
