Trading Spaces...The CRYING episode!

I finally saw it this weekend. The HOLY GRAIL of TS eps.
The one where the woman is HYSTERICAL over the ruination of her ugly JC Penny meets Holly Hobbie Living room.
I thought she was more subtle....NOPE.
"I have to leave the room now."
Walks off camera.
Sniffle.
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH> SOOOOOOOB. Sniffle.

Damn. I was laughing so hard I think I hurt myself.
Runner up:
Fav line by her husband.
"I am looking at a lot of firewood right now".
Heh.

You forgot the line she half-mumbled to her neighbor at the end of the show:

"You could have stopped them", something to that effect.

SHE WAS FURIOUS! If they'd had diamonds in that room, she could've melted them with her gaze!

What odds will you give me that those neighbors never speak again?

I'd like to ask the chick why she agreed to go on the show in the first place if she didn't want her stuff jacked up.

And to think, an entire nation got to see her act like an idgit!

This episode is great for the ending, but I think the all-time classic goes to the two "long Island Lolitas"-- the mother & daughter who complained about work and went out on dates that night and had other people do their homework for them.

Those two were such whiners!

Did you see the new episodes this week? Boy, that Laurie Smith acts like she is the first woman to ever have a baby. At every turn she had to point she was pregnant. And the way she kept holding her stomach, I thought the baby was going to fall out. She is not even that big & pregnant yet.

She is kind of hoity-toity. She always buys some ugly overpriced fabric and blows her budget.

The episode where Doug found the "cheesecake" photo of the homeowner was too funny! I can't believe he blew it up and put it on the mantle!

Yeah, I finally saw the "crying" episode this week too.

I kind of felt like I did after seeing Star Wars: Episode I - lotsa hype, not much substance. It was far less dramatic than I expected.

As for Laurie's pregnancy: I'm hoping this doesn't mean she's not going to appear on the show in future episodes. She and Hilde are, by far, my favorite designers (well except for Frank - but you already know why he's one of my "faves" and it has nothing to do with his cutesy countrified decor). I don't think I could bear a season with any more of Doug's snooty condescension or Ty's cheesy goofball antics.

I like Vern the best, but I have to wonder why Ty is always so mean to him. That time he threw his design int he fireplace wasshocking! I have always noticed Ty never wants to do anything extra for Vern, but for Hilda or Gen he'll do things they didn't even ask of him.

I loved on the episode in LA, with the comedian guy--Vern told him that Ty couldn't finish a project and the guy asked "Can we call Amy Wynn?"

See? I'm not the only one that recognized that earlier "celebrity Trading Spaces." Nothing annoyed me more about TLC's incessant plugging of the Dixie Chick "Trading Spaces" (who has zero talent for redecoration BTW) was that they were calling it the first ever celebrity edition.

I cry foul. The comedian guy was there first!

OMG! The cheezy "Boudior Shot" blown up over the fireplace of those people with the red room (NO TASTE, so OF COURSE they loved it, btw..."Yeah. My Favorite thing is my Leopard Loveseat").
The BEST touch was that the sleazy girl had painted "Hi Mom!" on her shirt. Showing her naughty photo on TV. "Hi Mom" indeed. Doug is such a dick.

Actually, I did not recognize him at the time, but read a post you made after the fact about him. So I learned this from you!

He was pretty funny on that show.

I thought it was interesting that the ads and the show for the Dixie Chick episode not once mentioned that she was a Dixie Chick. I kept seeing ads for a "celebrity" episode, and I was like "Who?" SOmeone had to tell me what band she was in. ANd in the episode they just said she tours "with her band". I wonder if contractually they weren't allowed to say the band name? If so, that's weird. You would think they would want the publicity.

So was anyone catty when that episode aired and made jokes about her not using her treadmill very often?

Meow.

Hehe.. Glad you finally saw that episode. I was rolling on the floor laughing when I saw it.

I mean, really, if you don't want to take a chance, don't go on the show.

Now.. If I ever do the show, I want to work with Genevieve and have Vern do my room.

I like Vern best, but I'd rather he do my room then get to work with him. His designs are more of the style I like. That whole asian/zen influence.

Genevieve has some really great designs.

I cannot stand Doug or Hilde at all. Laurie is not too bad, and Frank is okay, though mainly he gets annoying as well.

Yep! She's got some amazing talents, alright. And having seen her on an old MTV "sex" documentary about her beautifully alternative lifestyle makes her flirtation with Amy Wynn extra delish.

So, if I were to propose to Genevieve, I would likely be shot down, not because I am an ignorant dolt (although that factor cannot be completely dismissed) but because my........"gender", is perhaps not in complete accordance with her specific persuasion?

Do I read you correctly, or am I need of remedial lessons in "Subtext: How to properly infer meaning from generalized implications"?

Ok, at the risk of veering way off topic here, G. Noel Gross' somewhat oblique post has me intrigued.

So in my webquest to find the true meaning behind his post, I uncovered this little article, referencing the "alternative subtext" of our favorite little "design show that sorta isn't".

Read for yourself and cry yourself to sleep tonight, all you lads with festering penchants for the wonderous "Double G":

But surely....SURELY.....my wander"ing"lust for Amy Wynn is not for naught?

Please let it not be so!

That depends, I've never seen "wanderlust" used in this context before.

I just learned from the Trading Spaces boards at TLC.com that Ms. Gorder used to work for MTV and she was interviewed on air for one of their "Sex in the 90's" shows.

Apparently she shared her views on female sexuality & masturbation.

I'll have to look for this one in re-runs!

I saw this a couple of weekends ago, when they had that safe sex awareness thing going on. I was floored when I saw Genevieve giving an interview.

Does anyone have more info about this show where the woman cries? I somehow missed it this past weekend and don't want to make that mistake again.

Woo-hoo! Bearhood is referenced!

I feel so validated right this second.

(Which, with any luck, will turn to feelings of violation just as quick. )

It's starting right now, 9pm EST, I believe, I've never seen it but they were like "we really like our fireplace the way it is" and Doug is the designer.

I've watched all day today for this episode.
