I have to question the value of a world where people do not watch this show. If the American public knew any better, they'd be ashamed of themselves, but alas, they just don't have a clue.
While this episode was powerful enough on its own, it's really starting to sink in that the show is ending.

The last 5 minutes were really heartfelt. It's true, some people really do have a chasm between them and their parents, even with the familial bonds in place. This show has been able to capture the essence of family like very few have on television. I will mourn its demise (unless some of network wises up and picks it up).
I got more lovely footage for my MILF file when Lily came outside to unload on Rick who was installing a fan belt, and got really lucky in the back seat. Lily's headlights were on high beams. Yowza!

Well, I let Rick's nekkid butt shot fade in the dark recesses of my memory. So did Rick wear a pecker sock, or did they just shot the scene au naturel? They went to great length to make sure the audience knew Rick was pretty much flapping in the breeze.

My grandparents are in horrible shape, and my mother is trying to figure out how to help them when they are refusing her help. Their relationship isn't bad; it's just that my grandparents are very self-sufficient and have been for almost a century. I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose control of so many things in your life. Even worse, not much compares to seeing a parent (or loved one) going through Alzheimer's. To see someone who was the rock in your life for so long, the one you always turned to and had all the right answers, start fading away ... gut-wrenching. Life's a damn_bitch sometimes, and this show captures it so elegantly.

Amazed at how good/solid the writing is for all
the characters throughout the season. Every main
actor has had a story line based around them.
Instead of the main the focus on just one character
throughout the season.
I guess next weeks episode is the series finale?

I was thinking the exact same thing while watching last night.

This episode was a tough one for me.
My father died last year, and my mother is starting to have real problems with short term memory.
We don't know if she will be able to live on her own.
Sometimes getting older sucks major ass.
