Morimoto

So last night I watched 4 hours straight of Morimoto on the Food Network.

The first show was Morimoto vs Flay, 2 hours long. The first hour was just quite lame. Gordon Elliott? Come on! Why'd they use him as the host? Though I did enjoy Morimoto and Michiba going in to some strangers house and cooking whatever they had in their freezer/fridge. I was amused by Michiba because he didn't know the American spices or what-not and at times looked confused. But they pulled it off. And the other two at the cooking school was good too. Finally, the second hour comes, and we have Flay and Morimoto using Rock Crab. Flay kept getting shocked by electricity and cutting himself in the beginning. Then at the end he jumps on his cutting board and cheers. Morimoto says Flay's not a Chef because knives and boards are sacred. I was shocked, cause I never heard him say anything negative before. Glad Morimoto won. Seemed to me like that little Tommy kid was a waste of Morimoto's time, only because no one talked, and I would've felt awkward, but Morimoto also seemed geniune. I watched the credits and saw the copyright was 1998!?!?!?! I was disappointed.

The next show was Morimoto RAW. Once again I see things in Morimoto that I hadn't seen before. He does have a huge EGO. But I can understand why. And very impressive restaurant he has in Philly. Though I would'nt pay 80 bucks to eat sushi or tuna.

The last hour, the Viewer's Choice show. Why I will never know did people vote for the Rice episode??!?!?!?! I've seen more challenging shows, where Morimoto looked puzzled as to what to do when Kaga unveils the main ingredient.

And I have never seen an Iron Chef episode where the other 3 Iron Chefs cook.

Did anyone else watch these? Anyone ever been to Morimoto's restaurant in Philly? Favorite episode??

Yes, the original Morimoto vs. Flay battle was in 1998. They had Morimoto/Flay II at the Millenium Battle in 2000. Iron Chef (I don't have the book in front of me) ended shortly before or shortly after the battle in New York (First Battle) if I remember correctly.

The next show was Morimoto RAW.
Dang, I missed that.

And I have never seen an Iron Chef episode where the other 3 Iron Chefs cook.
If they ever show the Special Battles (such as King of Iron Chefs) you would see the Iron Chefs squaring off against each other. They even had a 2 on 2 match between the 4 Iron Chefs as well at one point (once again, don't have the book in front of me to tell you exactly when).

I missed them. Food TV's on-line site is poor as I remember I was looking last week to find out when RAW was going to be on as I would have liked to see it. I have other things to watch on Sundays unfortunately, maybe I will catch a repeat.

here's the schedule http://foodtv.com/foodtv/show/0,6525,IC,00.html

yeah my friend told me after I posted, that they had a second battle in Japan because Flay was complaining about faulty wiring and such. also he told me Flay once again jumped on his table, though pushing away his cutting board first, and he lost again. What a loser.

Flay won the Millennium Battle, your friend is misinformed. Everyone still awaits Flay/Morimoto III: The Rubber Match .

I know there is a schedule, it's just that last week when I checked there was nothing on it. They had no page on RAW or anything. Maybe I was just pissed at the poor site .

I watched the Rock Crap episode. The Flay dishes looked more appealing to me although crab & rice soup that Morimoto prepared looked delicious.

They need the Rubber Match at a neutral location. Morimoto won in New York and Flay won in Tokyo.

If you could call Flay's a win.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how can you say that? I honestly haven't seen the Millennium battle in a bit and don't know if it was all 4 judges or not, but Flay got the majority.

I will agree his dishes did not look as good as Morimotos and I like Morimoto way more than Flay, but saying "if you could call Flay's a win" is just wrong. He won, the judges voted for him. Are you saying they pity voted for him?

so'd i until they explained why. but those bathrooms are very eye catching. tho i imagine thats not why one goes to the bathroom its because of the bacteria and the sushi bar.

has anyone ever been to either ones restaurant?
