Friends 4/4

Best clip show ever! Seriously, Joey is the funniest actor on the show. This clip show had a lot of his good spots and the plot itself was good.

Simple solution - then don't watch them.

i can't not watch tv.

clip shows suck cuz they are basically a rerun in a nice package. they usually do show a lot of the best scenes from reruns but they are still basically a rerun when you were expecting a new episode

Yes, but this was not just a clip show. It had a whole storyline with new footage.

I understand that they are reruns kinda, but, to use your word, i like it in the "nice package" of the best scenes.

Usually, I don't like clip shows (cheap reason to air a new episode IMO). However, this was one of the better ones I've seen. The whole gay segment was hilarious!

Do you think all the friends actors still get a million dollars for a clip episode?

So, aside from not watching, you think maybe people don't have the right to express their opinion?

I don't like clip shows either. That's me. And I took your advice and turned the tv off and read until ER came on.

THANK YOU, Kal! That's been bugging me - I was just about to go to epguides to see who she was.

As to tonight's ep - normally I agree that clip shows are a cop out. Unless I'm expecting some sort of retrospective show, I find clip shows to be wholly unsatisfying since I was expecting all new material. That being said - tonights ep was funny and well done, and the best "filler" show I've seen in a long while.

It must've taken a whole 15 minutes to write this episode. Absolute laziness. Oh well, at least it featured Joey.

FYI: The complete first season of Friends comes out on April 30. I'd suggest preordering the set early so you don't have to pay some outrageous price.

Granted it was a clip episode, but still a funny one.

I wasn't much, but my wife was quite a bit during the show.

I hate clip shows. Remember "Family Ties"? Seems like in the later years, every other episode was a clip show.

I was busy doing housework when Friends started. When I saw that it was a clip show, I went back to doing housework. That's how much I love clip shows.

Yes I do. I believe they have contracts to appear in 24 episodes, regardless of content. It's not their problem if the writers get lazy and decide to use one of those episodes as a clip show. IMO, there's no reason why they shouldn't get their normal pay.

I missed "Friends" last night for the first time in at least 5 years!

Can someone give me a synopsis of the non-clip part of the show?

Honk!

Spoiler:

Monica is excited because she "knows" someone in the crossword puzzel in Soap Opera Digest - BLANK Tribiani. Everyone gets excited about that, and Joey mentions turning them down for an interview since his LAST interview with them had him saying he wrote some of his own lines which subsequently got the writers peeved enough at him to write his character down an elevator shaft.

Rachel encourages Joey to do the interview so that she can be mentioned as his "gal pal Rachel Greene". A plan is hatched to have the crew sit close by to Joey's interview so they can jump in if he starts to say anything "stupid". Ross makes a lame joke about "all the time or just for this interview?"

Joey starts the interview at Central Perk with everyone listening in. As the questions are posed, clips from previous episodes are shown as Joey considers his answers. The friends jump in only once (after letting Joey say he enjoys being a "mento" to young children) to save Joey. Everything goes well for the most part until the reporter asks one last question on the way out, "What soap opera do you enjoy watching?" To which Joey replies, "I don't watch soap operas! Jeesh! I have a life." Ooops.

The credit sequence shows everyone reading the article amazed that every flub of Joey's (especially that LAST on) is omitted from the article. Ross comments on Joey's rather sexy photo with the article whereupon Joey says that it was for his "gay fanbase" (previously brought to his attention by the reporter during the interview) and that it was so nice of Ross to pick up on that. () Joey then reveals that he slept with the reporter to get a good write up.

Overall I enjoyed it - was it just me or were some of the clips FROM old episodes but were deleted scenes? I don't remember Ross, Joey and Chandler playing in the fort with Chandler dresses as a prarie girl...

As a rule I enjoy clip shows, as I seldom watch re-runs, and joey is a good one to base a clip show on so props to the producers.

I do agree however that clip shows are a cop-out on the part of the writers..

When Ross moved in with them, I think that was the scene that played over the end credits.
