How in the hell are we supposed to believe that Wesley lives after having his throat cut???
This show has gotten so horrible that I'm starting to believe that Joss is doing it purposely so the WB will cancel it.

This season of Angel has been so great that it can be compared to season 2 of Buffy.

I agree it's possible.
A horrible thing happened a few years ago to a woman who was attacked, raped and had her throat cut in her own home. The attacker then set the house alight, but the woman managed to eventually get out and survive. Miracles happen.

While it might be possible, I still don't buy it. The girl that cut him is a stone cold killer. She's gonna slice him pretty good. And this is now the second time in two seasons that Wesley has looked like freakin Superman. Last season he gets a critical gunshot wound and survives, and now he has his throat slashed and lives through it. That's a little ridiculous.
I don't want Wesley killed off, him and The Host are the only cool characters that are left on the show, but this is getting silly. I used to really like Gunn, but they can't decide if he's "ghetto/street" or some surbuban mallrat momma's boy from Iowa. Fred is a horrible character, and I don't believe for one second that someone like Gunn (at least the Gunn from last season) would be interested in her. I don't have enough time or space to talk about how they've screwed up the Angel and Cordelia characters.
Basically, the writers have thrown 6 seasons worth of backstory out the window for this season. The inconsistencies and contradictions to previous seasons has become laughable. Out of all the people I know who have watched BtVS & Angel from the beginning, or near to it, I'm the only one who still watches Angel. Everyone else has abandoned it. And from what I keep reading, the WB feels the same way since it's been rumored that the show will not be returning next season due to poor ratings. Damn, they haven't even been showing the re-runs, they've replaced it with another show. That's a bad sign.

This is from Wanda's E! chat last night
"Which way is the Frog croaking on keeping or dropping Angel?
That silly Frog is more fickle than one of its angst-ridden headliners, but today I'm hearing Angel will stay--largely because Glory Days was anything but."
To my knowledge, the WB hasn't made a definitive comment on it. But, the fact that the ratings are poor enough to the point where they are "auditioning" other shows in Angel's spot is not a good sign.
I actually hope that the WB doesn't bring it back. I've read that the relationship between the WB and the show is not a good one. If it does get dropped, UPN has already said it would pick it up - which I think would help the show A LOT.

But I guess this is a UPN problem. If they were broadcast in more areas, they would have more viewers, plain and simple.

Morf: I didn't mean to make it sound like I was talking ratings-wise when I said I thought the move to UPN would be good. I know UPN isn't in every market, but neither is the WB. What I was talking about is I think if both of the shows were being done by the same network, I think the quality of both shows would get back to what they were before the network split.
AgtFox: I agree completely. Both shows are suffering this season. I don't think Joss has what it takes to be working on so many different projects. Ever since Angel was spun-off, BtVS has suffered. Now with the network split and Joss working on Firefly, the cartoon BtVS, and Ripper, both BtVS & Angel are suffering. For me, BtVS hasn't been up to par since season 3. Seasons 4 & 5 had some higlights, but neither is a completely enjoyable season for me like 1-3 are. I thought this new season of BtVS was great up to and including the musical, but since then it's gone to the crapper.

Give Buffy a Break
Personally, I think most people are being too hard on Buffy which upsets me because I thought the shows fans were more loyal than that. Try to identify with the characters. This season has been weak because Buffy herself has been weak....she doen't have her "swing" back yet....she's getting there and it's starting to show - plus she's growing up. She can't stay the trendy little high school kid with the zingy one-liners forever.
In my opinion, although this season hasn't been the best, there have been a few really good episodes. The Season Opener, Once More with Feeling (probably my favorite ep thus far), Tabula Rasa, Wrecked, Dead Things, Hell's Bells and Normal Again (which was awesome). I'm really looking foward to more on Willow's decent into magic and madness....though we love her as a Scoobie - if memory serves - she makes a pretty bad-ass nemisis (remember evil-vampire Willow). The other episodes weren't bad but they dealt too much with Buffy's changes and Spike for my taste.
My point is, I hate to see so-called loyal BTVS fans ready to write the show off. It's not Joss' writing, or too many projects...it's the evolution of the characters and the show and we need to grow with it.
Besides, there ain't a lot worth watching out there and Buffy and Angel are still at the TOP of my "what to watch" list.
