Who would you like to see host the Oscars?
I think Conan O'Brien would be perfect. Mike Myers perhaps too.
Nathan Lane did a damn good job w/ his little schtik last night. he might be a good host. As much as I love Conan O'Brien, he's all wrong. His monologues aren't very good on the show. he's not a stand up type guy. He's more of a sketch and improv type comedian.
Tom Servo & Crow T. Robot
or Dennis Miller |
Conan would be a great choice. I never thought of him.
They should have a contest where a lucky movie fan gets to host the Oscars. No actors, just a regular guy off the street. I mean at least then if he sucks, you won't be surprised. And don't give him teleprompter lines, make him make up his own material. Now that's a train wreck I would like to watch.
If it were me I would get just nice and sloshed, and then just rag on all the fake celebrities. It would be like MST3K meets the Oscars. Sweeeeeeeeeeet. |
Robin Williams.
Mike Meyers
Monty Python, all of em that's left. Or just John Cleese :)
~Scheherazade |
Adam Corolla & Jimmy Kimmel & I won't watch until they host
Anyone but Whoopi...absolutely un-funny last night.
no moee whoopi, How does hse get that job??? As much as I'd love to see jimmy the sports guy and Corrola from KROQ host it, it aint never going to happen. I thought steve martin was awsome. I like conan but like John Stewar better.

Anyone but Whoopi.
Someone funny like: Billy Crystal Ray Romano Nathan Lane |
I like some of the above, but for a unique experience I would like to see Jim Carrey... All of his appearances on the Mtv movie awards have been memorable for me.
Eddie Murphy
Kermit the Frog or Sir Didymus with Ambrosius
I've got to say Owen Wilson & Ben Stiller. The only 3 minutes of the oscars I thought was really funny this year.
Chris Rock or Ben Stiller...they need to get some young blood out there, as it is there are already a lot of older people nominated for artsy films not seen by the general public. If they were to have a young, funny comedian I think that they would draw more people from younger demographics, not to mention people might actually laugh, unlike Whoopi's display. Just my .02.

Originally posted by Art Vandelay Whoa...just beat me to it... Ben Stiller is best in short bursts of roughly equivalent length. My concern would be that over the course of 48 hours (or the projected length of next years Oscar ceremony), he would wear out his welcome faster than a mouse at a wedding banquet. The Oscar ceremony requires a personality that can stitch all of the weirdly bizarro happenings together, without getting in the way of the "Grandeur that is Oscar" (sarcasm). With that in mind, the perfect host by my reckoning would be....Billy Crystal. I'm not a huge Billy fan, but his schtick works well for the Oscars. He's unobtrusive and yet very much a part of the proceedings. He seems to understand the absurdity of some of what goes on there. and manages to convey this without being condescending. Billy Crystal needs to face the music and own up to the fact that he was put on this earth to shepard the world through the "Annual Gigantically Huge Bloat Fest of Self-Congratulatory Chest Thumping, otherwise known as the Academy Award Ceremony". |
Triumph the Insult Comic Dog or The D - Jables and Kage
I've enjoyed the times Steve Martin has hosted.
I think Denis Leary would be good, or Nathan Lane
