Most overrated tv series of all-time?

I would say-X-Files.Even though I have the first 4 seasons on DVD and the movie on DVD,I don't see what people see in it besides very unoriginal storylines.I can see many episodes that ripped off movies. The acting in the first few season's seemed second rate and looks like it was made on a tight budget.Low budget horror works sometimes, low budget sci-fi doesn't.

You hate the series yet you own all 4 seasons and the movie on DVD. Chris Carter thanks you for putting money in his pocket. The show won numerous Emmy and Golden Globe awards for acting, writing, and Best Drama; the acting really sucked didn't it!

Reading this thread should be fun ...

I'll throw some in before someone else says them

All in the Family
Roots
I Love Lucy
The Honeymooners
Homicide: Life on the Streets
Law & Order
The Tonight Show w/ Johnny Carson
The Dick van Dyke Show
Taxi
St. Elsewhere
Hill Street Blues
E.R.
SportsNight
The Simpsons
Late Night with David Letterman

All those shows suck.

By far: I Love Lucy

So yes das, you beat me to it. And I assume you were being sarcastic.

But I really do hate Lucy.

By far the safest assumption in any post of mine.

Sports Night. I liked it and all, but if every line of dialogue was only used once the episodes would last 7 minutes.

M*A*S*H

I tried watching this once... after 5 minutes of torture, I had to save my sanity and change the channel.

I wouldn't say it is the most overrated but it's a definite contender: Friends. I don't get the appeal of this forced-laughter, overpaid actors show.

I'd probably go with Seinfeld. It was a great show, but it wasn't so head-and-shoulders above some other great shows as you'd think by the press when the show was ending.

I fail to see how anyone can think season 3 of The X-Files isn't one of the best seasons of television ever. If you think it is ca-ca then, just wait until you're watching season 5, 6, and especially 7.

I'll add another for M*A*S*H. I've tried watching this nuumerous times and just was never able to get into it. I will admit it does have its moments, just not enough of them for my tastes.

Came here to say that M.A.S.H. was my pick. Didn't realize so many people would beat me to the punch.
