Friends spinoff?

Friends spinoff?
headline news said that somebody (missed the name) reported that Matt Leblanc would get his own show after Friends ended. Joey would move to L.A. and become a soap star and the show would revolve around that. NBC has said the rumors are false. Anyone have more info?

I believe the source is "The Mirror or Daily Mirror" in the United Kingdom. I'm pretty sure it's a tabloid over there.
The thing I read just said it would focus on Matt LeBlanc's character. I assume the show would be called JOEY. Seems simple enough but he might not be able to carry a whole show by himself. I don't think any of them can.
I'd still watch though.

just like many other shows, nbc is trying to milk this for all its worth. however, i think that i would hate this show if it came into being. part of what makes friends good is that they play off each other so well. if there were just one then i really don't think it would work too well.

i agree w/ kevin75. i'm not sure LeBlanc could carry a show, he's great as an ensemble actor though. One worry is that it would become a male version of Cyblil. Would the running joke be that Joey's the perpetual aspiring actor & ladies man?
Another Friends spin-off idea:
Gunther & Ugly Naked Guy - an "Odd Couple" for the decade
i didn't say it was a 'good' idea...

I still think that they should do a spin-off with Monica and Chandler moving to the suburbs, having kids and calling it "F-A-M-I-L-Y"... with weird Uncle Ross living over the garage... oh wait they have that already... its called "Yes Dear!"

monica and chandler suck now that they are a couple, well atleast their story lines suck.
i think NBC said there are no such plans like this so they completely shot it down

As Frasier has little in common with Cheers, this show could have little in common with Friends but Joey's idiosynchrasies.
Not saying it be good or work, but that it is plausible and could work. They'd have to keep it from simply becoming Friends L.A.

They probably should have done this spinoff 2 years ago (which is also the same time they should have killed this dying series).

They should have all of Ross's ex-wives move in together. They could call it:
The Lesbian, The Brit, and The Dimwit
Note: this is a slightly "cleaner" version of the title that I originally thought of. I'll leave deducing that title as an exercise for the student.

1 - FRIENDS
Two seasons ago (99-2000), Friends overall ranked #7 (mostly thanks to Millionaire). This year it will probably rank #1 or #2 so looks like a good thing for NBC that they did not can it.

I know it's more popular than ever. I don't think anyone can say that it is better than ever (or even close).

I'm sure a little thing called the internet played a big part in the decline, along with the growing popularity of cable, videogames & DVD players.
