Then many in the audience are smug, homophobic a$$holes. Glad you find his comments so endearing.

Yeah, that was a bit agressive of me, sorry. It was meant to skirt the edge, and show some anger -- but not to imply that you were necessarily any of those things yourself.

But Rob is truly apalling. As is anyone who would cheer him on, thinking his comments are harmlessly funny. They may be funny, but they are anything *BUT* harmless.

He's funny because he's so stupid. Sometimes you have to laugh at people like that instead of getting angry at them. I love watching guys like him. It's like watching Springer. Sure, if these people weren't idiots, their comments might be hurtful, but considering how moronic they are, I just laugh at them.

But seriously, with all those racist slavedrivers on the island, can you blame him?

I think the current Rotu tribe will make it to the merge because I can't see them losing the next 2 immunity challenges.

Now here's the interesting thing: What if Rob or Sean can actaully run the table a la Colby? You just never know...

Look at it this way...if they had all non-homophobic, non-racist, all-100% PC people on Survivor, who would watch? Like them or not, these are people who draw viewers.

Anyone know if the challenges are supposedly all mapped out, written in stone before the game begins? Or does Burnett & Company have the leeway to choose their challenges "on the fly," based on the current state of the game?

I ask because, seemingly obviously, Maraamu has zero chance of winning any physical challenges now, unless Rotu lets them win, which might be a good strategy at this point...

It would be an odd (and maybe awkward?) state of affairs for a single team to have won every challenge throughout the whole show... Talk about lack of suspense...

Red Dog: Fair enough; you're probably right on that point...

Sean's one of the most outwardly closed minded persons ever to be on TV. Can you imagine him meeting Archie Bunker (if possible)?

At least Rob is provoking the audience with his comments. Would we stick around watching the love fest between Paschal and Neleh all hour long singing "Kumbaya"? This switch out produced exactly what Mark Burnett wanted, a shake-up in the Rotu tribe, and it worked beautifully, and we, the viewers, are locked in watching the weekly psychological trainwrecks like clock-work.

I would suggest that if you find these contestants despicable, you can always change the channel. These shows need villains. The love shack that was the original Rotu tribe was bordering on watching ants on the nature channel.

The change sort of shaked things up, but not really in the bigger picture.

Can't win:
Sean - Lazy
Rob - Lazy
Gina - By association with the rest of her horrible original tribe
Vecepia- By association with the rest of her horrible original tribe
Kathy - Not liked at times
Sarah - Voted off, but was lazy and wouldn't have won anyways

I think thats the exact same as if they hadn't switched.

If you buy the "less airtime early on means lots of air time towards the end" theory, the contenders are (and were before the switch also) Gabe, John, Robert (not Rob), Tammy and Zoe.

Exactly why Rotu should have lost at weaving and voted off Sean or Rob.

My sympathies. However, most of the other idiots are pretty poor samples of white people, too, if that makes you feel any better.

I think all the people are chosen for the conflict potential. I hope not much of America is like any of them.

Some comments:

- the preview showed that Rotu is thinking of dropping the challenge. John was questioning Gabriel on that.

- so far I consider Rob to be stupid, like most of the people here seem to do. However, noone seems to remember Will from Big Brother 2. He looked just as stupid
until halfway through the show when he became the favourite to most viewers (although still an underdog) and he manipulated his way to win it all. I sure hope Rob is able to pull something like this. The difference is that Will's tactics of dropping challenges will quite likely not work for Rob, because of the much tighter bonds that are within the original Rotu tribe.

- Sean is lazy. Rob is laid back (could be synonim to lazy). Vee is not lazy but she doesn't like to work too much either. But I agree with all of them that the other Rotus are workoholics. I totally agree with whoever said that under the conditions that they have there, I would work all morning, but then relax in the afternoon, at least for a while. Do some more work to prepare dinner and then prepare the fire for the night, and relax some more. If you don't manage to do that, it means you're not able to focus and manage your time properly, which a lot of people suffer from.

I like Gabriel and he's my favourite. I like Neleh, but she doesn't seem too smart so she has no chance. Tammy looks strong, but I don't care too much about her. I don't care too much about any of the others. The only one that is really interesting so far is Rob and I sure hope he'll stick around more. John and Robert didn't make an interesting comment the whole show so far (except for John getting pissed at Kathy at some points).

You know, I think Sean's whole slavery comments were pretty tasteless and insulting to the memory of the slaves.

Yeah, your ancestors slaved around all day, but not for their own survival, and not for a chance to win a milion dollars and definitely not for 39 days only.

Can you imagine the stink if someone on this show compared their "plight" to say Jews in a concentration camp? It would be tasteless.

I don't see why Sean thinks it ok to belittle the suffering of the slaves. Maybe he ought to watch Roots, it would maybe put things in perspective for him.

I'm not sure why Rotu would want to throw an immunity challenge. Yes, I will love the day when Sean and Rob are history, but if I was in Rotu I wouldn't want to throw the immunity and have the chance someone (Rob/Sean/V) would give me votes. That could hurt down the road. I'd keep trying and let the other tribe vote off people, even people that used to be in my tribe (I mean, the object is to get as far as you can). It's not likely that Sean or Rob would win EVERY week's immunity challenge when it gets to individual challenges. If either of them lose one, they are gone.

I don't think it really matters if Rotu throws the challenges or not.

Assuming there are two more episodes before the merge...

If the new M tribe loses both, they vote off the remaining original M member Gina and one other. I don't think they would have a hard time voting off Kathy. That would leave 3 members of the original M tribe (Rob, Sean, and Vecepia) after the merger. They'd have no clout and would be the first three voted off first after the merger.

If the new M tribe loses one, they just vote off Gina while Rotu votes off one of Sean or Rob. After the merger, the other one of Sean and Rob goes, then Vecepia, probably followed by Kathy.

If the new M tribe wins both, then Sean and Rob go pre-merge, while Gina, Vecepia and Kathy go post merge.

It seems to me that whether they tank on purpose or not doesn't really matter. Either way Sean, Rob, Gina, Vecepia, and Kathy will be going next. The only way I see this possibly not happening is if the new M tribe doesn't lose both, which means Kathy gets to stay till the merger, then they let Kathy stay longer because she isn't a physical threat.

I get the impression that Gina has a decent shot against Kathy in the next Rotu vote... She seems to be meshing very well, while Kathy really needs to grow some social skills...

Well, I finally got around to seeing this episode on my Tivo...and it was pretty obvious Chesty Lerue was next, because she only had two things going for her; and they weren't her personality and willingness to get along with others.

I definitely see Kathy going next, especially after seeing the way Gina blended in so well with everyone. I sure hope they do merge into one tribe soon because Maraamu doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning any challenges, and things are going to get mighty dull if they don't.

I'd substitute 'lazass' for 'jackass' above.

I think that instead of giving them rice or water they are simply making food abundantly available. Yes, they are not struggling. Much better food than Survivor 2 or 3.

Wasn't Kel, the lieutenant who was tossed off over JerkyGate one or two seasons ago, Asian? He's the only one I can remember... hopefully there have been more.

I dunno, if I were likeable, I gotta drag the unlikeable with me, and that's Kathy.
