Zero Effect: The Series?

Anyone hear that they are making a TV show based on the movie Zero Effect starring Alan Cumming as Daryl Zero and Jeremy Piven as Steve Arlo? I like Alan Cumming but I don't see him as Zero honestly.

Well, it still has to shoot, but yeah, it's Castle Rock for WB. Written by Jake Kasdan (who did the film) and Walon Green (Wild Bunch).

I loved that movie. If the series is any good (and Jake Kasdan's writing, so it might), I'll take a chance and watch.

Piven's great, and I think he could pull off Steve Arlo... he's got that ability to flip out like Stiller does (see Grosse Point Blank for proof... "Ten years?!?!?!"). I don't think Alan Cumming has the physical presence that Pullman had in his turn at Daryl Zero. I think Alan Cumming, I think... mincing. Pullman's Zero had a dangerous edge... I can't imagine Cumming being dangerous.

Regardless, if the writing's good, I'll be happy.

Very cool news. That was a great movie, and would work wonderfully as a series. Good casting too!

This isn't gospel, but according to my agency (who reps Green and Kasdan) Jeremy Piven has not been cast in this pilot.

At least not as of yesterday.

While I agree that Cumming and Pullman are very different -- and I'm unsure of the casting myself -- Cumming has shown that he can do menacing very well... I tend to stereotype him as an androgynous psychopath...
