Mtv Cribs pisses me off
Something about seeing people with just way way too much stuff pisses me off. Don't these people remember where they came from or help anybody out (charity-wise)? I mean some people have nice houses and some people have ridiculous houses. Do you really NEED a solid gold bed?
|
The decorating choices of some of the rappers are good for a few laughs. Nothing like a mural of bare-chested women in your garage and a bank of TV camera monitors in your bedroom so some no-talent s**thead can pretend he's Scarface.

Yeah but when those rappers are penniless and lying in the gutter, I'll be laughing at the fact about how they wasted money on that solid-gold bidet. |
Do you think these people will ever be poor again? I know if I had ONE million dollars, i'd be set for life, and these guys have ONE HUNDRED million sometimes. They probably do go bankrupt, but then they have some bull-ish concert and everyone gives their sympathy and makes them rich again. I'm boycotting giving my money to ANYBODY, no movies, no music, no sports. If more people did that, maybe these huge heads would be able to control themselves a little more. (i.e. I can't play football for only 5 million a year, I want 8! WAAAAAAAAH)

I like MTV Cribs, but one thing I absolutely hate is the dang camera work! That speed up slow down thing is getting really damn annoying, all the camera crap keeps me from watching the show. They need a new producer. Damn I'm picky!!
|
The majority of the rappers they profile are virtually certain to go bankrupt one day as it is not a genre in which long careers are prolific. Since 99% of them use samples, I don't think many of them rake in the royalties, yet they buy houses with elevators! It is a show very high on the unintentional comedy scale.

i only get mad when little kids like lil romeo have really really nice digs and a car and he's only 14 (?) !!!
how many singles does he have? 2? yet he can afford all that? he must get a nice allowance from his daddy. |
I like Cribs because the decorating tastes of some of the celebs make me laugh. I guess "Nothing exceeds like excess".
Mariah Carey has no taste whatsoever, but I already knew that by her crappy fashion sense. Also, how many cars do some of these people need? Isn't 10 enough?! ___________________________________ "This is my happening, and it freaks me out!" |

Some of those rappers are not going to go bankrupt, like Master P. He is rolling in cash. Ludacris, has had two hot albums And SnoopDogg, will be ok as well. I dont know about the Cash Money Millionares, they kind of suck so they might go under. |
Defenition of True Hell: Watching MTVCribs while at work. It's so depressing.
|
I always think of Hammer. He was rolling in money and went bankrupt before he could finish that stupid mansion he was decorating. Some of these guys go way overboard and as quick as people come and go in the music industry you would think they might be a little more practical. If you are an established star I can understand the excess, but some of the one hit wonders spend more money than Snoop and Dr Dre. I just doubt they will have their pleasure domes for long.
|
You know, SOME stars give without MEDIA attention...you have no idea what some stars are doing in terms of "giving back".
I garandamntee their accountants are having them give if for no other reason than taxes. |
It's odd how people here have only mentioned the rappers. There are alot of other people who do other forms of music as well as actors and actresses that have way over the top house. But I guess all some people want to do is mention a certain element of people.

What I want to know:
Why in the hell would someone want to have a PS2, DVD player, Game cube, etc.) in their car? No wonder the accident rate is up with those famous ones... WTF? What is the F* point? Ahhhhh! I am so mad...not jealous, though. ;) |
It only bothers me because I admit I'm jealous. All you people with your crap about "oh give back to the community." Man I wouldn't give anything back. How much do YOU give to charity? It's their money, let them buy whatever the hell they want, because I know damn well I would be doing the exact same thing. They earned their money, now let them enjoy it how they want. If Tommy Lee wants a fuzzy yellow wall then let him have it. You people remind me of the lottery players when I used to work in a liquor store. Whenever the lottery got really huge you would hear them say "oh I hope only one person doesn't win it, it's too big for one person." But they ONLY played when it was that big. Sure, makes sense to me.

The best episode was the Sum 41 kid. He lives with his parents in an ordinary suburban house! it was awesome!

Holy "green with envy" Batman, these bouys are jealous!
|
I usually find it odd how these stars spend the money on crap and a half. then I just change the channel to E! True story and see how all those rich folks who spent money on any little gold trinket are ojn the lowest of the low of there lives because they spent it all and wasted there 15 minutes of fame.
One example is little romero.. the kid just had to much of an ego for a one hit wonder little pre-teen bopper. I bet he never gets another hit after his "cute" factor wares off |
The only ones I mind are the idiots. John Travolta comes to mind in this category. I think he was showing off his plane and talking about some guests he had on it. "I sat here, my wife sat here, so and so sat here, and his wife sat here." Then, he did the exact same thing for another famous person who no one cares about.
All this ego stroking, damn, I don't think I'd ever want to meet half the celebrities in the world. It's a good show though. Looking at the waste of money and watching these guys act like morons is always fun. |

I wish I could afford a stable of high end automobiles, a 5000+ sq ft house, every electronic gadget known to man... but, I can't. Still, I'm sure that some of the people they show do give to charity and help other people. Sure, no one needs a solid gold bed... but, does anyone really need a DVD player? I would say that we don't... but, most of us here own at least one, and many here own more than one. BTW, is it true that most of the people they show are rappers? I don't see every show, and sure there are some rappers, but I've also seen people like Jamal Anderson, Eddie George, Donovan McNabb, Jerry Stackhouse, Jason Kidd, Dale Earnhardt Jr, a pop girl band that was something like Dream, Rob Zombie, one of the guys from Limp Bizkit, etc... seems that they even had Penn and Teller on a while back. |

What is funny is I bet on this board there are people with thousands of dollars of credit card debt who get mad at rappers living in big houses. It is all about living below or beyond your means hard to know how people handle there finances. I have heard that Master P owns all his cars and houses if things get bad he can always sell it. From what I saw on Hammer he was spending 50 grand a month for payroll of people that did nothing. :( Oh well if I had a million bucks I tell you what I would do two chicks at the same time. :)

Originally posted by Thrush Yeah, it doesnt make much sense to get angry at someone about how they choose to spend their money. There are far more worthy things in the world to get angry about. I for one would be riding around in a Navigator limousine with Mink carpeting filled with strippers drinking Dom Perignon out of golden champagne flutes. Not to mention that most of these rappers arent as careless with their money as they would have you believe. If their fans found out they had accountants and financial planners who put them on relatively modest weekly allowances it wouldnt do much for their street cred. I don't get mad at them. I loved the rapper's house that had the stripper's stage and pole in the basement. Sounds like a good idea. However, you might catch me laughing if I later find out that the rapper is penniless. As you alluded to, chances of that are slim. |
