Smallville 02/12/02: Best episode so far!
Whew! That was cool. I think Clark officially assumed the role of Superman tonight, regardless of his powers.
The whole power reversal story was well done. I also liked seeing Clark experience the fun and pain of being human. The scene before he went to face psycho superboy with Lana was very emotional. Also, you were able to see a preview of Lex going off the deep end when he really finds out about Clark protecting his identity.
All in all, the show was the best of the season in my opinion. Oh and the music selections were great.

Oooh, you didn't see that?
Lex's father and Victoria. Father and son were banging the same girl.
I can see how Lex will go nuts eventually.

Goodness, I found this to be a terrific examination of what makes Clark Kent "super" and it's not just his extra-ordinary powers, but the core of his being which dictates his moral compass. This is, of course, the examination of "with great power comes great responsibility".
When a freakish lightning strike coupled with kryptonite transfers Clark's powers to a nerdy schoolmate, Clark finally sees that it's not the powers that defines him, but he who defines his powers. The Kents did a great job in instilling the values that help him become the Superman that will be one day.
This episode served to fix many of Clark's problems, mainly getting Lex off the hunt for Clark's secret. It also allowed him to be a normal guy for a day or two. While fleeting, I'm sure it helps him understand how normal mortals live their lives and the difficulties they endure being such "normal" people.
Without a moral compass, Eric (the boy who got Clark's powers) was out of control, and having such a bad parental relationship was the crux of the matter for having no control or forethought to his actions. Amazing how quick a town can turn on a "Superboy" after seeing the capacity to do not only good, but so much destruction as well.
FYI, the actor playing Eric was Bobby Drake (Iceman) in the X-Men film from a couple of years ago.
Damn if Clark didn't look sad when he realized that he and Lana will probably never be now that he has his powers back. I find it humorous when they trade what amounts to be fortune cookie proverbs (this week it was "you have to let go to move forward.")
Also loved the Lex switcheroo number he did on Victoria and her father. Gotta love hostile takeover bids.

I haven't watched tonights' episode yet, but I think that they did a pretty good job with the "Fortune Teller" episode. Not all of it, but the ending was really well done, and made it worth watching. I get kind of tired of this show, because it can have its moments, but also it is kind of cheesy and I am sick of Clark/Lana, when everyone knows they are never getting together.

The beauty of my TiVO is that it lets me finally watch a great show such as this which airs when we are usually putting my daughter to bed.
Never thought I would be hooked on a WB show, but I just love everything about Smallville.
When does the season 1 DVD set come out?

Ahh....I was wondering where I had seen Eric before....thanks Patman.
I gotta say that I love Lex's character! Man! Even though I know he's going to be diabolically evil one day, I REALLY like the dynamics between him and Clark...and that they are good friends (right now).
Oh yeah, Victoria is a HOTTIE!

yeah I don't know, I thought clark was a little too breezy about losing his power. He's a good guy and everything but man who wouldn't be bummed out for at least half an episode if you lost these super powers that made you so special. Instead clark is like," man this is so cool, i'm just a regular guy, i don't have to worry about being super anymore." yeah right

I must agree that this episode was very good. The funny thing is that the whole espisode I couldn't stop thinking of Lex as a drag queen! Why you ask? I got stuck watching Sweet November this past weekend (don't ask) and the guy that places Lex was one of the drag queens in that movie. It is laughable to see him in such opposite roles.

Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) will be in "Sorority Boys", which features 3 guys needing a place to stay to pretend that they are girls to join a sorority so they can find a place to stay. Rosenbaum plays the "ugly" girl in the group.

Besides, he could be close to Lana
(if she was wearing the kryptonite necklace) if he was "normal".

The only reason he acted like that was because of how he frets that he's not "normal" like everybody else. Lots of comic book characters are like that. X-Men is a great example of how those "mutants" want to be "normal".
