Thing to drive conspiracy nuts crazy: what exactly does Ward Cleaver do?

When you're unemployed, you have an awful lot of time on your hands. You often wind up watching TV, and daytime TV is either soap operas, talk shows, or Leave It To Beaver.

I opt for The Beav.

The thing is, we hear Ward saying he's had a hard day at the office in some episodes. In still others he complains about retail customers. He also spends weekdays golfing. But mostly Ward and June's conversations are ONLY about their kids. They touch on workdays somewhat accidently, but they never discuss what normal couples discuss.

So my theory is perhaps Ward is a government spook who has been relocated to the witness protection program. Whenever someone finds out the truth about the senior Cleaver, they're written out of the show. I'm convinced this is what happened to poor Gilbert. He found out the awful truth about the Beav's dad, and was "replaced" by Whitey.

Okay, I know I have way too much time on my hands if I'm posting this to Other. Oy.

Don't forget, Ward worked with Lumpy Rutherford's father, Fred. Perhaps the secret involved the entire community? Alien invasion, maybe, or an entire neighborhood of Soviet moles?

I assume that June is some kind of spook, and Ward is just part of her cover (with a makework job). Don't they sleep in separate beds?

"Ward, You were a little hard on the beaver last night"

Back when that line was said, it wasn't dirty. But it's hella funny to hear June says that now.

My wife and I were having the same conversation not too long ago. I remember Ward discussing something about women's fashions in referring to his job so I think he was involved in the retail clothing business.

Ward worked at the same place as Ozzie Nelson.

Ward must have run a department store that had an office in it. Either that or he was a communist spy and June never knew about it.

Not too long ago I tuned into a LITB episode and found myself checking out June.
I'm thinking......Humm.......That perfectly coifed hair, pearls, torpedo bra, high heals............ya I could really.............

NO! Stop! This is so wrong.
I can't think like this.

I need to get out more.

If you look really hard, you'll notice she has no lips. In fact, she kind of resembles a rock cod.

Umm... that was funny when I first heard it in Revenge of the Nerds in 1984! Not so much anymore.
